As Baldur's Gate (2 that is) will come within months i've started to think who i shall be(my baldur's Gate caracter wasn't who i wanted to be)
I thought about being a Cleric/mage but i actualy don't like multiclass caracters so if you can help eventhough you might not know what NPC's will be avaible in BG2 |

I share your feelings -- multi-class characters consume just too much exp to raise levels, especially when your character progresses to higher levels. Personally, I would prefer to dual-class, since less experience is needed overall while you would gain crucial skills/spells (eg. fighter classes would max out their no. of attacks/rd by level 13, thieves [excepting assassins] would also gain their maximum *5 backstab modifier by this level, casters would also be able to access relatively high spell levels by this stage).
If I were you, I would import my BG1 character over to BG2 -- you would still retain your 19 stats! Just refer to the Attrib. Tables in the manual (or any AD&D rulebook) and you would see what I mean --> Int 19+ spell-casters can write unlimited spells into their spell-books; and if spell immunities are implemented in BG2, Wis 19+ and Int 19+ characters would also be inherently immune to certain spells... Right now, I training a potential dual-classed fighter/mage. |

The problem with dualclassing is that you have to start al overagain so how do you stay alive until you're finily strong enough
Bytheway i've got 2 characters -> A paladin with 21 for strengh 20 for dex and 25 for char. but that is no fun because it;'s not fair and the other is a ranger but i don't like rangers anymore BTW if you dual class a ranger to a cleric do you get the druid spells? |

When you're dual-classing, keep the fella in question at the back ranks (use spells like Sanctuary or Invisibility if the situation is bad enough); the rest of your party should (hopefully ) be strong enough to defeat your adversaries.
Btw, how did you ("legally") get such stats for your paladin ??? (--) There are 3 classes from which you cannot dual-class -- ranger, paladin, bard. So I'm afraid your ranger will have to remain in his class; making an elven ranger would be good in this case as elves get a +1 to both damage and THAC0 when using long swords or bows (and a possible dex of 19 as well!!!). In my case, I usually dual-class fighters into the thief/spellcaster classes. Hope all the above info helps!! |

If you're a half elf it's possible to be a Ranger/Cleric in multiclass so it should be
posssible to dualclass a ranger to a cleric should it not |

No, I repeat -- it's not possible to dual class to or from the ranger class. If you look closely at the "requirements" for dual-classing, your character must have at least 15 in his primary stats of his first class and at least 17 in the primary stats of his second class; in other words, your (legally) rolled stats would be almost impossibly high.

so far the best class i have played (and the one i am playing now) is to take a cleric/druid and to dual class him in level4(cleric:6000 exp only) to a specialist mage,so that way i get the healing abillities of a druid/cleric (very important that) and i will have in the end (when is needed mostly-i mean durlag tower etc) a high level mage with all his deadly spells!of course till my mage reach level5 is reccomended to have another mage in the party(and after is recomended!)
