It's great to visit this board again. I've been away for almost two months - ever since my old computer died. Before that I was in the last stage of my marathon run through the entire BG series. I began with BG last April, continued through TOSC, BG2, and had just defeated Yagashura (I think that was his name) and was starting Watcher's Keep in TOB when my computer died. No problem, I had my last saved game on a floppy. So six weeks pass and my new computer finally arrives. After a week or so of working the kinks out of the new system and trying some new games, I load BG2 and TOB. Then I copy my saved game files over to the hard drive...and get file read errors. Oh no! I tried copying them in DOS mode, and still got error messages, but at least the files showed up on my hard drive. I tried to load the saved game, and it crashed, as I expected. So I went into Shadowkeeper and opened the corrupt save file, and as luck would have it, the one thing not corrupted was the party information, stats, and variables. So I painstakingly copied all this information over to a new saved game, and my party was reborn, just as it was when I left it (okay, with a couple of bonuses thrown in, but they deserved it after what they went through!). Of course, I have to play TOB over from the beginning (I only copied over the party member variables - there were too many other variables to copy and I don't know how to cut-and-paste the whole global variable list over), but that's a small price to pay. PC monk
Jaheira
Anomen
Korgan
Nalia
Imoen

My monk is one-man wrecking crew, Korgan is great for drawing fire with all his hit points and great AC, Anomen's a great cleric, Jahira's just Jaheira (jack of all trades), and Nalia and Imoen are both uber-powerful mages. In the early big fights in TOB, they were slaughtering the bad guys. There's no question why I wanted my party back.

What cheating? I didn't give my party anything significant or game-changing. Okay, Imoen picked up and extra third-level spell that I'll probably never use. Big deal. Their experience is also higher because it's what it was when the game crashed, and now I'm back at the beginning with the same experience. I earned the experience and they can keep it. So what? I don't have a character higher than 24 anyway, and Imoen is only 18. I played this party straight-up through all of SOA and the first couple of major battles in TOB. I played a different party in BG and TOSC that was all roleplaying and no power gaming. I didn't even have a mage in that party. Get off the moral high ground already.

I would not consider that cheating. He couldn't get back to his old load, so he simply used SK to fix it. The only cheating was the extra 3rd lvl spell for imoen and some extra xp, which should not make a difference as you don't really need someone past level 25 or 30 to beat the game.

Great job Dobian!
This is one of few justifiable uses of SK I have heard in a year.
SK was meant for cases just like this, to fix corrupted save files, but some gamers use it as answer to everything, and others think that it is cheating even if you install it to your computer.

Thanks. I even discarded a bunch of stuff I inadvertently received when added a bag of holding into my inventory. When you do this in SK, in the game you will find that the bag of holding is filled with stuff. So, I moved the stuff out of the bag and into my inventory, then quit the game and deleted the stuff in SK, keeping the empty bag of holding, of course. I also set my money to 15K, as it was much higher in the old saved game, but I remember it being pretty low when I started TOB. My party is basically the same as it was in the old game, except for the additional experience and innate abilities I gained when I played the first part of TOB previously.
