I was thinking of making a new game to play online with my friend. We were thinking of going the evil route and making only two characters to "dual-solo" (lol) through the game. Can anybody give me some ideas for characters would should make to maximize the efficiency of a two-man party? Another thing -- I was going to install the exp cap remover; so which two character would be especially good at higher levels?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Cleric/Mage and Assassin (24)=>Fighter would be fun. Cleric/Ranger and Mage/Thief would be good. Take multi or dual-classes, and you can cover all the bases. Or even a blade and a fighter/mage/cleric would be fun.

Best bet is multi/dual classes, to get maximum versatility out of the two party members. Besides, multiclasses are great once you start getting ToB HLAs. Honestly, I would do any combination of Fighter, Thief, Cleric, and Mage. Some combos:

 • fighter/cleric and mage/thief: pretty logical. First guy tanks and heals, while the second guy backstabs, opens stuff, and throws out magic.
 • fighter/mage and cleric/thief: a bit more wierd, but quite fun. Fighter/mage is powerful on its own, and a cleric/thief is an odd combo but quite interesting (Sanctuary + backstab, etc.).
 • fighter/thief and cleric/mage: good if one guy does not like magic and the other does. The first guy does the up front fighting and backstabbing, while the second person does all magic duties.
Another combo for those that love powergaming is 2 sorcerers. A solo sorcerer is strong; 2 would be over the top.

Best suggestion: both of you play what you want to play, and just enjoy the character you are playing.

Ok, I need some more feedback...

I was thinking it would be fun to play a swashbuckler ==> mage. This would leave room for either a fighter/cleric (dualled or multi), ranger/cleric, or ..say fighter/druid -- someone with cleric spells and fighting ability. Firstly, what would you guys suggest? Also, how should I play this party (ie which weapon proficiencies would be useful, which level to dual class characters).

Any more advice and additional suggestions would be great!

Let's see:

 • fighter/cleric: As a multiclass, pretty good. Also really good as dual-classed from fighter to cleric, as you can then use fighter kits. Berserker is a nice kit for the fighter side, due to the protections when you berserk, with little in the way of bad side (cannot specialize in missile weapons, but he would be the tank, so no big loss). The other two kits I wouldn't really do, but it makes for an interesting combo. Dualclassing is probably the way to go, since you will get a more rapid spell progression (to keep up with the swashbuckler/mage).
 • ranger/cleric: Multiclass is good, but dual classing is better (see above). I wouldn't take a kit with this dualclass, as all are pretty limiting for a tank (armor and/or weapon restrictions). You get less weapon skill potential, but get the ability to cast all of the divine spells (druid and cleric).
 • fighter/druid: multiclass druids are slow in their progression (druids are slow in progressing anyway, but with half the xp from multiclassing?), so dualclassing is the way to go. Berserker once again shines as a kit.
In other words, it is your choice. I would probably do the ranger/cleric, with fighter/cleric as a close second. Turn undead helps, and no restrictions on armor helps, too.

Weapons for fighter/cleric and ranger/cleric would probably best be flails (don't overlook the Defender of Easthaven, and Flail of Ages rocks), with hammers being second (Crom all the way). For fighter/druid, best to go with spears or quarterstaves (Impaler, Staff of the Ram).

Dual the swashbuckler at multiples of 5 (due to the AC increases). If just SoA, then probably at 10th; if ToB, then go to 15th before dualing over. For fighter/cleric, do at 9th or 13th; if ToB, then do at 17th.
