This has probably been asked before, but a search turned up nothing so here goes.....

Does a multi-class character get more exp than a single class character in a party? I will try to clarify. Here we have a party of 2. Jeff is a multi class fighter/mage and Betty is a single class cleric. Together they kill a monster of some sort for 3000 EXP. I see 2 possibilities for sharing the EXP:-

1 - Betty Gets 1500 EXP towards her cleric class, Jeff gets 750 EXP towards his fighter class and 750 EXP towards his mage class.

2 - Betty Gets 1000 EXP towards her cleric class, Jeff gets 1000 EXP towards his fighter class and 1000 EXP towards his mage class.

Option 2 seems a little biased towards Jeff except when you take into account Quest EXP, which is the same for all characters. If option 1 is the case then this means that multi classes end up half the level of dedicated classes and IMHO only any good for soloing.

Please tell me what actually happens in this situation with Betty and Jeff.

[Edit due to lousy spelling]

1.
The total XP they get is the same as for all other characters, it is then divided equally between their clases. They are still good for non-soloing, though, as they can become very powerful. Imagine: Project Image + fighter HLAs. And when those run out, you've got the TOB 9th level Mage Spell.

It probably doesn't mean that the multiclasses have half the level of dedicated classes. I don't know this game but in general the experience needed to increase a level is not linear, but they approximately double for every level. ie 1000 for 2nd, 2000 for 3rd, 4000 for 4th, 8000 etc. This means that, on average, a multiclassed character will stay one level behind.

Sounds a lot beteer, doesn't it?
Ah, But after about 500 000 EXP the EXP gap between levels does become linear. Take the fighter. The EXP per level goes up like money in "who wants to be a millionaire" at first - 2000, 4000, 8000, 16000, 32000, 64000, 125000, 250000 and 500000. From then on, however, they go up by 250000 each time all the way up to 8000000 and level 40. Other classes are much the same. This means the Multi classes are OK in the short term but not on a long ride through ToB as well.

Well, that kills of multiclass characters.

Strange, really. It means that after about level 13/14 you will gain levels easier! I mean, higher level character means beating higher level monsters => more xp per battle => less battles per level. Or the monsters stay the same but then the battles become easier.

Is there a level cap or an experience cap in this game?

SoA EXP cap = 2 950 000
ToB EXP cap = 8 000 000

Does this mean that a multiclass character won't be able to reach higher levels than 24/24? Big difference compared to level 40 for single classes!

Can you decide at a certain point to stop advancing in one of your clasees? To become a single class with backup?

ehh...a related question...

currently I have Aeire in my party, now she's only level 10 as cleric and she levels up slowly...my question is, based on the rule, only when a cleric hits level 15 can he/she summon skeleton warriors, does this apply to multi class cleric as well?

As far as i know, i does. IIRC, you could have a level 14/14 cleric/mage and you would be unable to get skeleton warriors, even though your combined level is 28! mages gain level 15 at 1,875,000 and clerics gain it at 1,575,000. So a level 15/14 cleric mage would get skeleton warriors from his CLERIC animate dead, but only skeletons from his MAGE animate dead.

N.B: I am not 100% sure about this, but it is mostly true if i recall correctly. Your casting level for the class which is casting the spell is the one that counts.

that...that really sucks@"@ I don't know WHEN Aerie is going to hit 15 as cleric based on the rate she's leveling up now...I really love those skeleton warriors. Usually I have Viconia in my party (mostly I just have one cleric in my party, multi or pure), and this time I want to try Aeire throughout the game. mmm...guess have to get used to life without skeleton warriors ^_*
