Xen - I think jinny wants it here to get BG2 gamer's opinions on what game to get, so this is a fine place to post it.
I bought IWD2 about 8 months ago and played it once or twice. The beginning seemed very boring...walk here, walk there, talk to person A, talk to person B. After that I couldn't get into it. So I dediced to just stick with BG. From what I've heard you're not going to get anything as good as BG, so don't expect to. There's my two cents.

I throughly enjoyed (and still do) IWDII. I much prefer the 3rd edition rules, and using feats and skill points means that you can tailor your character to suit your playing style perfectly. The combat system rocks, and the added value of Heart of Fury mode (meaning tougher monsters, more XP, and much more powerful versions of the weapons found in normal mode) means that the game has a high replay value. It is linear however (much like the first one was), but if you fancy a game with intense combat and mindless looting, then IWDII is your game.
As usual, the infinity engine grinds to a halt when things get busy on the battlefield, but the artwork is excellent, and the musical score is absolutely fantastic. This game has my recommendation. |
