If you make a character in BG2...and you are too lazy to take it through BG1(again) and if you CLUA in the Tomes for raisining atributtes.

What do you think?

If it's cheating or not is irrelevant, it's still you who have to play the game afterwards.

Well no I don't consider it cheating. As long as you know where all the tomes are and have managed to get them before.

I'm a perfectionist like that... I absolutely feel I must go through BG1 every time I start a new character and get the tomes myself.

It just feels more satisfying taking a character all the way through the game... And I can't bear the thought of using SK to 'cheat' stats.

The only SKing I do is to change character portraits and fix HP. Oh, and on 'test' games where I equip high level dual/multi/single class characters and send them through Irenicus' dungeon to see how they do with the gear.

Go all the way

It's cheating cuz you didnt't earn the tomes. But because we have lives besides BG, it's ok

I don't understand that masochistic roleplaying thing. People think that they have to pay for every achievement, for example:

Already mentioned stat rolling. Let's say that I want FMT with 15 in all stats, and I have to roll for hours until I manage to get a score of ninety. Why? I could easily use the editor to make that. Cheating? Why would it be cheating? The result is the same, and I've saved half an hour I can now spend playing. Remember, the game is made for fun, not for tormenting.

Spawning tomes. If you want to simulate a character that went through BG1, you could easily do it with editor as well, you don't even have to meddle with tomes. Why would you have to play BG1 if you don't want to? The result is also the same, and you saved a few days of playing.
I went even further once: I spawned a few of my old items in Chateau Irenicus (Hey, look! Irenicus stashed my sword +2 here! ).

A conclusion: You cannot cheat against the computer, you can do it only against human players, be it another person or yourself.

PS: Don't depend too much on other peoples' opinions. Hear them all and decide for yourself, nobody can tell you what you should do. If you feel something is justified, do it. (Well, this doesn't relate to stuff that does concern others, such as stealing from them... )

EDIT: wording

I totally agree with vedran but as long as you have got them before (which i think u have) Altho i dont totally agree with the spawning items part of it because the chances are you are only gona use the weapons for a bit and then sell them, giving u money!!

Yes, if it is something that you could get if you went through BG1, and it would not have been taken from you at the start of BG2, then I definitely agree that it would not be cheating to create your BG2 character with those changes. Besides, like Vedran stated, it is YOUR game, not anyone else's game. Do what you want, as long as you enjoy playing what you paid your money for. If it turns out that you think your guy is overpowered, you can always use an editor to take away the changes or start over.
