I have a terribly embarrasing problem that I hardly dare write down since no one else in the world seems to be struggling here. However; the thing is, I do not know how to do the ritual on level 1 in Watchers Keep. I have placed the bell and the candle upon the alter but I just can't fathom which book I am supposed to place with them.
I am reduced to a mumbling, pathetic shadow of myself. Help me!

Welcome to IW!
You ran find out the ritual by reading the fragments of paper that you find around the place, but if you it straighfoward, here it is: Remember, this is a spoiler: - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 1. Ring the bell 2. Ring the bell once again 3. Light the candle 4. Open the book 5. Ring the bell one last time. Then get ready for a fight!

And the book you need is the Holy Book that is already on the altair, if I recall correctly.
My BGII installation is crippled (due to Icewind Gate), so I cannot produce more accurate information. Sorry.

Heh, heh, then wait till the second level. That one's puzzles are positively nasty.
After that it gets easier though. 3rd level can be solved by brute force and the rest are really only a question about searching the whole place properly and thoroughly.
