I managed to butcher the entire theives guild. I went in the side entrance, had a mega-battle, killed everyone, came out the front, and the bloke outside said that someone wanted to talk to me. Guess where he went? Yep. Straight into the thieves guild. Oh well...

It's not critical....had you let them live, the Thieves Guild would have given you a couple of quests, but none that were directly involved with the plot. BioWare really made the Thieves waaaaay too easy to kill. I could send in a Mage with a dagger and he'd take them out without needing a single spell, except maybe one Hold Person for their boss.

Actually, I'm not too bothered now. I've completed the game and it didn't seem to make a difference.
