I was creating a biography for my BG1 character and I realized that I don't know her age. So what's the PC's age at the start of BG1?

I would imagine it would be something around 20. There was some conversation about this some time ago, but I wasn't able to find the thread. I guess I could find out the age from the game but I haven't got access to it right now.

Isn't it quite funny that PC's is always the same age whether he is human or elf?

I ran into the same problem with my BG fanfic. How do you explain Bhaalspawn who seem to be hundreds of years older than the PC? Simple--give Bhaal a reason to go wandering about Faerun before the Time of Troubles. I made a "Bhaal Month" of sorts, where every year he'd wander around Faerun for a month in a different form. Something about how his powers were the greatest during that month and he could sneak away and do his business (hehe snort) without anyone noticing.

I remember reading something about this subject some place. Might have been a novella in a magazine or in a book or something. It was about the various events before and after the time of troubles. Don't scourge me from pillar to post for mistakes, I honestly don't remember this as much as I would like to.

Bhaal saw his demise long before the ToT. Seeing his demise, he set a plan in motion to fuel his rebirth. He set about having scores of mortal offspring to reincarnate himself. He first set out and sired children with the Elder Races. These were the Firstborn and the most powerful, the ones who would recieve the most of Bhaals power. (You should know who the Elder Races are folks, but, for those that don't, it's the Elves, the Giants, the Dwarves, and the Gnomes) From knowing what I know about the BG saga, this indeed does seem to be the case. Bhaal then fathered children with the Mortal Races and finally, the Mongrel Races. (Humans and Halflings and the like as the Mortal, things like Goblins, Kobolds, Gnolls, etc. Half Elves are not Mongrels.. They are Elder Born) To the Second and Third Born, some power was given, but, near the end of his walk on the mortal plane, his power was spent and very little power was given to those born last.

Rumor has it that Bhaal has even sired offspring with the oldest of races, the Dragons, but, this is likely just a myth, a frightning fairie tale old sooth sayers made up to scare small children. (Or something to this effect. This was the actual line at the end of the story... Or as close as I can remember)

In all honesty, I don't think the protagonist was ever meant to be human. If you think really hard about it, the one's with the most power were the First Born. The PC would likely be intended as an Elf or Half Elf. All this prophesy talk of being so powerful would lead one to believe that he had to recieve a large portion of his or her father's power. In the dream sequence when you meet dear old Dad, you get a hint in this direction, that you might have gotten to much of your Dad's immortal power, enough of it that it took form and made it's own entity, you. In fact, there are all sorts of hints about this very thing all through out the series. Even Elminster in BG1 is trying to determine how much of your father is in you.

As far as I know, there is nothing official about Bhaalspawns. It is Black Isle's idea.
Could be wrong, though.

People...people, its al fiction, nothing is based on facts whatsoever.. please remember this

Okay now I'm joking serious... I also haven't seen anything about the Bhaalspawns in the history of the Troubled Times (I have read some work about it, done some quick searches on the net ect..) so I believe Vedran is right.

Just something the BioWare crew made up to give their game/story some backbone. (though the whole game is based on it )

You know, thinking about it (My poor old man's brain is hurtin) I believe when I read the bit about the Bhaal Spawns, I think it was a fantasy gaming mag offering a teaser trailer about an up coming RPG set in the Forgotten Realms, some game getting a lot of hype called Baldur's Gate.

I think that's the source, because my mind seems to remember another piece in the same mag about the origins of miniture giant space hampsters.
