For those of you who've been reading the Dragoncrown series by Michael Stackpole (so far, the books are Fortress Draconis and When Dragons Rage, with the prequel being The Dark Glory War), I felt like making a party based on it. Any suggestions/comments would be appreciated (and yes, I know one of the characters is "dead" at the end of the second book, with the third yet to come; however, that character has been prominent so far and is presumably either "immortal" by fame or else somehow survived their apparent death).
Kedyn's Crow (aka Crow, aka Tarrant Hawkins, the Traitor)-- I'm thinking he should be a CG human. As for class...fighter definitely, maybe some sort of ranger mixed in? He definitely starts (in the prequel) as a fighter, but he's clearly an expert with a longbow and knows some of his herbs and stuff. Should be high strength, high constitution, but I'm not so sure about dexterity...he's supposedly fairly agile but seems to get hit a lot. Either low dex. or else decent dex. and a built in AC penalty. High charisma (despite his scars he seems fairly likeable), high wisdom, but only moderate intelligence (he's well educated but not that well). unique items for him would include a Silverwood bow (magic longbow, presumably...or is it a horsebow? if so it'd be short, I haven't quite been able to piece that out), and two handed sword Tsamoc (magic, not quite sure what special abilities or perhaps just high damage). Resolute-- Elven, either CG or CN (technically he's so fixed on liberating Vorquellyn that he could almost be CE and selfish, but he's a good guy overall). Not quite sure what to place him as classwise, barbarian perhaps, and just say that his tatoos are his rage ability? Or he could be a straight fighter, with a special item for those. starts out dual-wielding either short swords or daggers, then switches to Syverce. Very high str., dex, and con, moderate intel and wis (he's smart but he tends to throw himself into the fray), and...I'm not so sure about cha, he's scary, and if this was 3e I'd make him low cha with a high intimidate, but this is bg2, so I'm not really sure. Unique items for him...possibly a set of gauntlets/bracers, that allow him to cast various spells (including some variety of fire spell and animate dead), Syverce after some sort of quest (either two handed or bastard sword, from what I can tell, should have some special ability but I'm not sure what--maybe unresurrectability? that'd only be useful in a certain party vs. party battle that's a TOB mod). Oh, and bladestars...some sort of throwing dagger. Will (aka Willburforce, The Norrington)-- very high dex, low-medium str, low-med const, very high cha...and i'm not sure about int or wis. Clearly a human thief, although I'm not sure if he should have a kit or not. CG overall probably, he's not a big fan of proper kingly authority. Unique items...maybe that set of bracers and mail he gets in WDR. and of course, he gets bladestars as well. Kerrigan Reese-- Human sorceror, there's no easier class to give him. Starts out as LN, moving towards some sort of a good alignment. Should be low str, dex, medium const, verrrry high intel, medium wisdom and medium cha (he's quite fat). He'll also need some pretty rediculous items. Unique items for kerrigan--he'll need a Dragonbone robe, which is essentially a whole lot of stoneskins; it's kind of unfair overall (or it could just be a permanent mantle of some kind). He also needs something to give him extra spells, plus something that gives him a ton of cleric spells...the problem is, he's kind of the ubermage that elminster is, and that's tough to do in a party. Alexia/Alyx-- Human female, possibly a paladin. Should wield a bastard sword of some kind, most likely, not a unique item though. She's high in just about everything, I'm not sure which stat to reduce her in... And finally, a 6th character. I'd been thinking Lombo, but he's too big and strong to represent in BG2. Dranae...well if you've finished the second book, there's problems with him as an NPC. Orla dies in the first book, and Augustus doesn't really get included. Maybe Sayce if she figures prominently in the third book...or Isaura (gotta wonder about her). |

O, and not to be mean, but this might need a spoiler tag, as you are giving away parts of the book (traitor and such). maybe its just me. dunno ![]()

Perhaps an item of some kind could do this instead though...have it stuck on (like with valen's armor), have it drop the AC, and allow called shots or something. Don't know if that's possible though. As for Crow and spoilers...if you've read Dark Glory War (where they claim temeryx feathers to be crow feathers, or where the temeryx gives him a number of scars that are mentioned in Fortress Draconis), or pay attention to any of the 8 zillion hints they give (i.e. resolute and crow getting annoyed every time someone mentions him), you should know exactly who he is by about page 20 (not to mention all the "a norrington should have a hawkins with him" comments). It's a bit of a spoiler, but really obvious overall. [ 05-01-2003, 10:53 PM: Message edited by: masteraleph ] |
