The whole Chinchilla encounter is just a little joke by BioWare... Unfortunately, you obviously did not find it funny.

I hate that little bastard .. Do you have any idea how much effort it takes to kill all of them ? And mid-battle he turns into a werewolf ... They are *mocking* me, making me look stupid by fighting a chinchilla
I'm gonna turn that fuzzy critter to stone one day, lets see if he likes to be a chinchilla for the rest of his life :wanders off to beat up squirrels in a vein attempt for satisfaction:

Is it some sort of Easter Egg? Ah, a rhetoric question.

His achilles heel proved to be my heel, making his furry little self coat my boats of speed Oh ! The satisfaction
EDIT: LoL, must be pretty funny to see the little rabbit fly across the screen smoking, though

A chinchilla is a small almost spherical rodent with long slightly rabbit-like ears (they are not related to rabbits though).

They look absolutely adorable, but make bad pets. Their natural habitat is high mountaintops.

The chinhilla in question must probably be the most well endowed bhaalspawn in the bhaalspawn powers department.

It's not size that count, it's what you do with it.
