GOD ! ! ! Mwuahahahaha.

Actually, not really. I took the mortal ending. Guess I'll go replay that final battle and choose the god ending just to see - but for now I'm genuflecting in the afterglow of my accomplishments. Plus, however the other ending turns out, I think I chose best. Now I've just got to do the same with my evil party - which is still in CH2.

Some ADVICE NEEDED!!!!!

I'd like to do some moding now. I like the looks of the TDD mod., flirt packs, Nalia Romance, and perhaps a character mod. Can I install another SOA/ToB on my computer? Or, must I overwrite my one copy? If so, then I'll have to finish the game on evil path completely first - and I'd rather play simultaneously.

Either way, I'm moving the game off my CPU drive and onto an external USB drive for space conservation and better organization. So, since I'll be re-doing my installation anyway, please tell me:

What order do I do the installs in. AFAIK it goes:
Main SoA Install
Main ToB Install
Bioware official ToB patch (version # anyone?)
Baldurdash
Mods

Is this right?

Thanks.

You've got the order right, but remember that not all third party mods will work with others. I've been going through the nine hells this past week discovering that fact.

If you have multiple hard drives (or maybe just a partition, not sure though) you can install BG2 and all the mods and keep your original stock standard. Except for the official mods (and Baldurdash).

Run that by me again. "Keep my original stock standard" - guess that means I can leave my copy on my c:\ drive and install another copy w/ mods on my external USB hard drive? But what does "except for the official mods" mean?

Also, does having 2 copies cause problems in registry, etc.?

Finally, I'm looking at the following mods, and would like advice on other good ones.

TDD will be the main one - and I only want ones that work with it.
Nalia Romance.
At least one other character mod (no evils, no vamps) - suggestions?
Perhaps the JI dungeon-skip mod.

Thanks for all continued advice.

Question Mark

Actually, you dont have to do a completely new install. After you install SoA and ToB, and the patch, copy your dialog.tlk file and your override folder to a safe location. Then you should be able to install any mods you like.

If you know that a Mod is going to overwrite/change some other file, make sure to copy that one too. What I usually do, just to help myself remember where things go, is to re-create the file structure of the game with my saved copies. i.e.

C:\Program Files\Black Isle\BGII - SoA\(foldername) or (filename)

That way it will be easier to put the original back where you got it.

One place where you can pick up a lot of mods/info/tutorials/etc is

www.teambg.com

Erm...just watch yourself if you get involved in the forums...they're not nearly as friendly there as people are here.

Err ... now that Poeple are packaging mods in new biff files, you may very well want to backup your Chitin.key file, just in case.

Timber Loftis, you mentioned having multiple copies and worrying about the registery. I have actually set up a regular and a TDD install of TOB with plans for a SOS version too.

I don't know if this is what you meant but the help I got through suggestions on my post below

http://www.teambg.net/forum/?board=1...;threadid=7281

perhaps it may answer some of your questions or needs.

Cheers.

You know, like a stock car. It generally runs better if you don't start tweeking it too much (unless of course, you know what you're doing) "Official mods" are like factory direct car parts. That is installing them on to your unmodified car(game) won't screw it up 'coz they're made by the same company who made the game (or car, err?!? now i'm confused.)

In a nutshell, the meaning of my post was: install a second copy to ur usb drive and use this copy to install ur mods to. Your original copy (on C: should be left unmodified except for your official patches (from bioware) and Baldurdash fixpack. That way you can go back and forth at your leasure without worrying about uninstalling any mods. Although most of the mods i've played are easy to uninstall anyway. Er, did that help, or did i just make no sense whatsoever?

Oh to hell with it, I'm gonna go for a fang in my car.
