use lots of protections from fire scrolls and potions. get you resistance up really high to avoid damage from his breath weapon. Then summon a lot of creatures to use as fodder. then whoop on him. Im sure dundee has some special spell triggers he could give you the ingrediants for

I've only played through the game one and a half times (damn university, taking me away from the PC) but I beat Firkraag fairly easily both times, though a lot of attempts were needed at first.
The first way I did it was to keep him friendly and cast magic resistance then have Viconia (or any other cleric) cast harm and attack him. Then just magic missile him and you get dragon meat. It didn't work the first twenty or so times I did it, but after a lot of reloads it did the job. Another way was to summon things and use them plus my fighters to attack Firkraag while I had spellcasters doing their mojos on him. Magic resistance (friendly one), then lower resistance then feeblemind. He was then easy to kill using my fighters because he just stood there and let them hack him to pieces. Hope I helped.

Cheesy version:
Cast Cloudkill, or use a Wand of Cloudkill, and run away. But this isn't fun at all. My favourite way to dispose off Dragons, without HLAs, is this: Summon as many and as powerful creatures you can, depending on your level. Mordekainen's Sword and Skeleton Warriors are good. Make a ring around Firkragg with these summons, add one or two of your tanks if you have to. Now, talk to Firkragg again, and make him hostile. Use tanks and summons to attack it in the formation they are in (the ring), so it is hard for him to move around. Have your spellcasters cast Magic Missiles, Melf's Acid Arrows, etc on the Dragon, and equip one NPC, or yourself, with a ranged weapon, and attack it from a distance. Takes a couple of reloads at times, but it is fun to watch all the fighting. I could give more concrete tips if I knew your party makeup, as Dundee says. ![]() |

at that level it proably won't be an easy battle but is definetely possible, i think i beat him a little higher last time, losing one person, if you think you need to go level a little and come back, you'll miss out on the best weapon in the game for a little while though.
o and i'm not sure if anyone mentioned this but cast remove fear

I was one lvl above your party when I barely defeated the beast. I reloaded quite allot. What I did was to summon 5 monsters to fight for me. I cast Fire resistance on them and other protective spells. I then placed them around him in an arc. Then I put Aeire behind the dragon and had her cast lower resistance on him. This started the battle. Firkraag is immune to fire damage but has very low lightning and cold resistance. So I used up a wand of Lightning on him and after a long battle he was then Badly Injured. I had Jaheira standing on a distance summoning more summons as needed. I found that my summons were slaughtered quite fast. I used Animal Summoning III, Skeleton Warriors, Air Elementals, Spiders, Efreetis and more. When my wand of lightning was depleted, I started to bomb him with a wand of frost. He was now Near Death and I had no more summons. I sent everything I had on him, my fighters, archers and spellcasters. He killed Aerie Just before he fell, but Jaheira had the raise dead spell so no problem. That was on my like 15th try or so. They key is to use lightning and cold spells/wands. And at that level you shouldnt melee with him until he is near death. If he attacks one of your party members just run and run till he find something else to grill.

![]() EDIT: This means cast Magic Resistance (the Cleric's Level 5 spell; since your clerics are lower level, if you have it, it will lower his resistance pretty far; you can then throw in a Lower Resistance if you'd like to lower it even further, if not completely), then Greater Malison, and then whatever you'd like: Harm, Finger of Death, Feeblemind, etc. Hope this helps!
