Yaaaahhhhh!!!!
![]() From the BBC Filming on the two Hobbit movies has begun following months of delays caused by funding problems, a row over actors' wages and surgery for its director. Filming is taking place at Stone Street Studios, Wellington, and on location around New Zealand. Production on the films, starring Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins, is expected to take up to two years. The first is due out in late 2012.

Question for all you JRR Tolkien fans
How can the hobbit be split into 2 films? Where would the end of the first film be? Talking to my son last night we guessed escaping from the elf kings dungeon .... any other suggestions?

Perhaps the stop-over at Beorn's enclave? Arriving there carries a nice bit of closure. And I think it's right about the middle of the book.

It'll definitely be a good movie. I have serious doubts whether it will be a good book adaptation though...
