The good news:
So theres a lot of really good powerful batteries out there made by american companies! A123 and altairnano for example The bad news: they dont want to sell to anyone but other manufacturers, and in fact 1 of them sells their products to an official distributor...located in the UK. So the average american consumer would have to pay for shipping internationally which raises the price even further. A123s 20ah pouches for example are about 95$ each from that UK supplier, but if they distributed in the US it would likely be 80$ or less. Which means were stuck with overpriced imported made in america goods, or cheap chinese/taiwanese stuff. Really quite annoying since i would rather buy american if i could, but the way they are doing it jumps prices too much. |
