Sunglass Man Recommended 3D art gallery

In order to accomplish my meager pictres for DC, I view a lot of art galleries.

Renderosity is a site with thousands of artists uploading artwork of varying degrees of quality. One of the artists that I've been really enjoying is a fellow by the name of ViciousCircle whom I happened to find through another forum (one devoted to 3D models and products).

If you want to check out some really top quality fantasy art, I recommend checking out his gallery.

When I grow up, I want to do art like this.

This one reminded me of Dragonlance, for some reason (if they switch the hair colors of the guy and gal, it would be like Caramon and Kitiara, I think ).

When I grow up, I want to be awesome!

I was speaking (via forum) with ViciousCircle yesterday, and he stated that AD&D is his main influence and motivation, particularly Dragonlance and the Forgotten Realms.

Perhaps you are right on with his intentions on this one. In fact I just left a comment on it mentioning Dragonlance.

Ha ha... Well, then my feeling wasn't off the mark, I guess!

Well, I did enter the world of AD&D CRPGs via Dragonlance after all - one of these days, if DC becomes able to do Dragonlance mods, then I will have to do some draconians, kenders, and Solamnic knights to help reel those fans into the DC community

(I would also like to do Oriental Adventures someday as well - I am somewhat familiar with this kind of stuff, after all...)

I feel fairly confident that after version 1.0 comes out, we will be able to do both Dragonlance and OA settings. I am also interested in doing a Gamma World setting.

While I'm not planning on ever designing in the Dragonlance world, I will play designs set there. I am also volunteering to help write the scripts and databases to make it possible to set designs there.

OA is some place that I always wanted to play pen and paper games in - I mentioned a couple of weeks ago my one experience with trying that. I think in many ways, OA will be easier to do than Dragonlance. Plus there is a very complete world hack for FRUA for OA that has some of hte most amazing FRUA art I've seen, not to mention some top quality mods to play. Uatu, I can't remember if you have FRUA or not, but you should look into getting it and then load the OA hack and play those games...you will be impressed and entertained.

The screenshots of the OA hack I have seen definitely look great!

FRUA does kind of scare me in that installation seems somewhat difficult (with all the hacks and stuff)...

I am also planning to play Dragonlance mods, but not necessarily make 'em. I would be happy to do some art, though. (I am sure we can find Dragonlance fans to make these mods for us )

I don't really want to draw pictures of Caramon, Tanis, or Kitiara, though... (Laurana, Sturm, and Tasslehoff (?), maybe )

(I almost wrote Hasslehoff just now... Hmm - is Tasslehoff even the correct name? )

Tasslehoff Burrfoot if I remember correctly, spelling aside. I will neveer think of that kender in quite the same way now...Hasslehoff. Did you know Germans love Tasslehoff? They love his show (Borrow from the ) Knight Rider.

FRUA install - there's a really good install guide over in the FRUA community forums that was written by either Nol or nologgie (you can see why I can' remember which). The complicatioin isn't from FRUA, it is from UAShell which you need for all the hacks. But, once it's installed you don't need to worry about the hacks or how to use them, as the UAShell program will take care of all of that for you.
If you can't find the instructions over there, ask and they will be more than happy to get you going. OAUA installs a bit differently than most - I think it's in a separate directory and you're overwriting some files, so that the particular instance of the runtime can only play OA. But, it's so relatively small compared to the games of today that having a separate place for the OA mods is no problem.

I want to know when someone is going to start working on an Avatar design? (As in the James Cameron movie.)

Germans love Tasslehoff Burrfoot? Or that annoying kender, Hasslehoff "David" Burrfoot? I did hear that he was quite successful as a singer in Germany...

Now I'm imagining Bay Watch, but with the Dragonlance characters...

Well, if I DO ever make a Dragonlance mod, you know I will have a kender named Hasslehoff Davidfoot in there

(Along with my goblin named Blargh.)

If all the Bay Watch actors did Dragonlance (in our wackiest dreams), then we could also add Pamela Half-Elven, etc...
