Default CD DVD Buring Software

Hi All,

Wanted to get some opinions on good CD/DVD burning Software. I'm using a copy of Nero but don't really like all the extra stuff (like Nero Scout) that I can not uninstall.

Any opinions?

My opinion is the same as your actually.

I've had a similar question anyway: I own all the Babylon 5 series on DVD, some DVD's (only one or 2) do not work and they would not return them from where I bought them. I have a friend who also owns the full set.
I would like to borrow his and copy the couple that don't work.

I'm sure have to overcome the copy protection stuff though. How can I do this?

You do have to overcome copy protection, some converters include this but personally I use Slysoft AnyDVD for removing the protection and CloneDVD to make back-ups of all my DVDs just in case (for when?) the kids trash them - basically we watch the copies and keep the originals safe and sound. Never had a problem with these and always got watchable copies, either with full menu, just the main film etc. Not good for burning data disks, best thing I've ever used for films.

Updates are regular, and free for the life of the product. At the moment they are doing a 20% off price, plus they discount for buying together so would cost you about $70. Depends how much your DVDs are worth to you whether you think this is fair value.

Other thing I've found with them is they are good for customer service, last time I contacted them was because I wanted to buy CloneDVDmobile as well - as an existing customer they gave me a 10% discount even though I was only buying the one extra product at that time. Can't knock it.

This is all pc stuff, if you want mac software then I there are other programs I use for that, but I am assuming that you're a pc user. PM me if you want advice on mac stuff.

As always, for anything like this, you should only be copying stuff you own, blah blah blah...

Nah, I can buy all the B5 stuff new at that price. I don't really have many DVD's. I can't justify buying them. Most are at the library for free.

For Copyings DVDs I Use DVD Shrink. It can get around "most" copy protections.

I recommend:

Again, I do little of that. I back some stuff up on CD, but next to no DVD burning. I have a whole pack of blank DVD's I never touch.
Nero has a confusing interface, I find. The other one I have is Winamp I think. I find it's trash. The interface is just way too busy.

I use CDBurnerXP. Does what I need and without the fuss associated with Nero.
