I wanted to explain a very odd day to all of you that might enjoy reading about miracles, if you believe in them...or pure dumb luck if you want to take that route. Either way...this is what happened.

At work, I made a terrible mistake on the Airborne computer and printer I use to prepare shipping labels to mail out Express packages. I cleared a jam and when I loaded the lables back into the printer, I forgot to print a test page again. If a test page is not printed when the printer is loaded...the calibration of the numbers will be off. This has something to do with sending the packages to thier destinations. The driver uses the scanner to decide where the package goes instead of looking at the label. Well, the jam occurred before my last six packages were done. That means that each package had another's number on it for I.D. They were destined to be lost. Thousands of dollars, bank loan agreements, and contracts were contained in those packages. The mess up would have cost me my job, and would have been very embarrassing to the company.

So...how was I saved? This is an amazing list of events that took place that saved my job in the morning.

1. Karen's car broke down and I had to take it to the service station to have the Alternator done over. That was last night that we dropped it off.
2. Karen had to take my car to Greensboro to school so I had to be dropped off.
3. Today, Wednesday, Karen gets home at 7pm, which meant I had to get a ride from somebody. If I would have had my car and had left at 5pm, I would not have caught the error.
4. The person I asked to give me a ride was going to pick me up at 5:30pm. He ended up not ever showing up. If I would hav left with him at 5:30, I would have lost my job for not catching the error.
5. I asked another guy to give me a ride, and he needed fifteen more minutes.
6. The lady that was mailing the last package of the six was late when she brought it to me, and when I made her a label...she was going to have to take it to a drop box, since the driver had already picked up at our location. If she had not been late, nor had noticed that the number on her package was not right...All would have been lost.
7. She drew my attention to it, and I called Airborne's Hub immediately to report the error so that they could correct the mistake from their end.
8. My friend never picked me up because he was asked to go fix a company computer that one of his other friends owned. If that PC would not have crashed...my friend would have been on time.

So, as it was,,,because I was an hour late in leaving work due to MANY factors that did not allow me to leave...I was able to fix my mistake, and retain my job. Again, it would not have mattered if the lady that was taking the last package to the drop box had not noticed a mistake. Each factor fed the ending result.

Is that not the most complex miracle that you have ever heard?
Or, is that not the most complex stroke of luck that anyone has ever had?

Larry, I am trying to post with my wife rolling all over the floor in the background. All I can say is, don't just believe in miracles, count on them.

A most fortunate confluence of events that worked in your favor, Larry. Days like this teach us never to focus on the short term, because even a bit of "bad luck" might turn out to have been good after all.

In the words of Eric Clapton...
