Anyone uses refilled cartridges for inkjet printers? Is there any way to improve quality?
I thought I'd give it a try, seeing how they are two-three times cheaper, and bought a b&w to see how it goes, but the quality is really bad. Printed text was so bad it was illegible initially. After putting the cartridge in boiling water for a fiw mins, it's okay now, but still way substandard. So most probably from now on I'm going back to the normal cartridges, since the refilled ones are definately not worth it. Unless someone here has any advice on how to improve the queality of those. It's a Lexmark X3330 printer by the way. [ 05-21-2007, 04:29 PM: Message edited by: ZFR ]

I tried it once... was too messy. I pick up new cartridges now, and most of the office stores here will give you something back (ream of paper, couple of dollars...) when you bring in an empty one.

A cartridge can only be refilled that many times, maybe yours wasn't of too good quality to begin with? My brother has his cartridges refilled every other two weeks, no complaints. Exept for one time when he went to another inkstation, the guy behind the counter somehow managed to mess up the cartridge and by the time he got home all the ink had leaked into the plastic bag.
So there's two factors that can be an issue, is your cartridge still of decent enough quality to give it a refill, and secondly, is your inkstation capable of doing at least a half decent job?

To save cost (or so I thought) I used to refill the cartridges everytime it's dry. Then I found out that the cartridges would go dry very fast. Like about a week later after refilling it. Half a year later I notice the cost of purchasing all those refilling inks costs more than a new cartridge. Now I'll just go buy a new cartridge everytime it's dry.

I use this link for lower priced 'good' quality refills for the daughter elements Epson color ink-jet. She prints all of her school work and reports with it, as well as color graphic projects. The photo quality of the printer is challenged due to its antiquity, but it does well enough with the inks. I have experienced what you are dissatisfied with, but thankfully not from this e-merchant.
