I've noticed I've been getting some of those annoying NETSEND ads from all sorts of companies so I decided to download Ad-Aware from www.lavasoft.com to see if I had any spyware on my PC. Guess what - I had 488 different pieces of spyware - from Cydoor, Gator, Ezula, Webhancer, New.Net and Tansponder, not to mention a ton of tracking cookies to measure usage habits.
Needless to say, I trashed them all - but I had no idea I had all this shit. I use BlackIce Defender and we all know one of its limitations is that it doesn't check for outbound traffic, so all these little progs have probably been sending all my details to these sneaks. I'd suggest downloading Ad-Aware and do a scan of your systems - you might get a shock. |

Ad-Aware is great, but suppliment it with Spybot. Both programs will find things the other misses.

Spybot, Ad-aware, and one more piece make up the forces on my laptop -- Pop-up Killer. I have to admit I like having the sound turned on for that one... it's kind of neat to click onto a site and hear the sound of gunshots as each popup is blown away.
Just had a little machine-gun burst , since as you may know, many popups will trigger another popup when you close them. Yep, it sure makes for an enjoyable afternoon...

I use SpyBot only at the moment. Perhaps I should pick up Ad Aware. I use SpyBot every second day or so but even after one internet session your computer is filled with these *"@% tracking cookies.
