Opinion on swashbuckler

I'm playin as a swashbuckler and have got Daystar and longsword +1 dueled at the moment. He's also go Agea's Hide. Does anyone else play as a swashbuckler?. I've never tried it before and he seems to be able to look after himself in battle and means I don't need jan for his lockpicking and finding skills.

I was also wondering on how they perform later on in the game fighting wise?. I don't want to be having to leave him out of harms way. I am gonna get celestial fury(I know its a kantana or scimitar?) and equaliser to replace the longsword +1.

Also apart from dragon scale is there a better armour than Agea's hide +3?. And whats the best protection rings and amulets for a thief class?.

I'm running one currently, but I dualled him to a fighter very early on - it lets him have the swashbuckler's "to hit" and AC bonuses even when wearing plate mail!

At any rate, if you want him to use his melee weapons in battle, it would probably be best to have him hang back for a round, perhaps firing a missile weapon. Then, when the foes are keying on your front line tanks, have him join in with swords flashing. I used this strategy with a blade and got a pretty respectable percentage of kills in my party - I don't see why it shouldn't work for a swashbuckler.

Celestial Fury is a katana.

I'm not positive, but I think that the best base AC that you can get from any magic armor you can use (except the Shadow Dragon Armor) is 3, which is what your Aegir's Hide gives you. There are several suits of armor that are like this, so I would only replace what you already have if you want some other kind of bonus (personally, I'd keep what you have or use the Shadow Dragon Scale). Actually, now that I think of it, magic elven chain might give you better, but I think that it'll give you penalties on your thieving skills.

Have you perhaps considered going with Bracers AC3 instead? That way, you could use Rings/Cloaks/Amulets of Protection.

I have a half-orc swashbuckler myself. Maybe it would be tactically most feasible to dual her, but I like my avatar too much. She looks cute in pink.
