It depends on what kind of party you want to have, (evil, neutral, good) I would highly suggest taking him, as he is the best fighter in the game!

Since you want a good and well balanced party you might not want to take him...

Sarevok is the best NPC fighter in the game. Pure and simple. He does no kind of magic, so if you need a tank he is the way to go, if you want magic choose someone else. Once he promises to behave he seems to be accepted by any kind of party makeup. I teamed him once with Keldorn and they didn't kill each other. AND .... I have heard though I haven't checked it out, that there is a way to force him into a good alignment if you use the correct dialog path.

No, you CAN change Sarevoks alignment during the game. I'm certain about that.

Sarevok is arguably THE best fighter in BG2. IIRC he gets 5*s in 2H swords & 2H Weapon Style. He also has a special ability which lets him dish out 200 dmg in one hit!! But you can't control it, it appears to be rabdomely activated.

Sarevok's alignment can be changed to Chaotic Good, if you choose the correct dialogue along the way. [/LORE] |

upon futher thought... I need Jaheria for elementals..Minsc is almost level 18 ranger..is he worth dumping for Sarevok? I'd hate to see that exp go to waste.. |

Hello,
I had the same thoughts myself, but I didn't add him. Why mess with what works? What is bothering you? Does your party have a weakness somewhere? Jaheira you need for healing and combat; Aerie is a double combo spellcasting machine (need her for the healing); can't dump the main character. Minsc, Keldorn, and Sarevok are all in the same neighborhood. Imoen is that other mage. So, you could swap Sarevok with with one of these three. You'd add an evil for a good player, so you'd have a mostly good, but balanced party. Is anyone underperfoming? If you really want S, then I suppose either M or K will have to go, unless you want to shift your party's emphasis to more melee rather than on a melee/casting mix by dumpin I (after she talks to him, of course). I'd leave well enough alone. Still, if M or K aren't working out too well... - Twilight
