Playing the game without a mini-map

My mini-map still doesn't work
It's pitch black but has the directional gold arrow on it (which tells me where north is [img]tongue.gif[/img] )

Otherwise I am doing well memorizing the locations of every shop and everywhere else.

But it gets hard when I goto new places for a newbie and try to find a way...

Currently stuck at Palace Vivec, looking to get to the canal puzzle???

How do I get to that? The door to palace is haevily locked and trapped.


I really need to get my mini-map to work

My laptop is 1.8GHz Pent4, graphics is superb. DirectX9... passed all tests.

World maps works... just no mini-map.

Also I don't have a character for inventory menu either. That's pitch black, though I can drag stuff onto it.

Tried resizing windows changing down graphics resolution.. nothing works

I tried to find a control that would turn off the mini-map, just to see, found nothing.

Maybe you could move your saves to a seperate folder, and re-install the game.

This may be a stupid question, But I was under the impression that this game needed a better 3d graphics card than you could get on a laptop: do you know what sort of graphic card you have? Has nothing to do with your problem, I'm just curious...

yeah, laptops sometimes dont run so hot on this game.

go to http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp

make sure that youre operating system, graphics card drivers, and such are all updated to the most recent specs. this will most likely solve the problem.

(spoiler) the puzzle cannal is at the vivec temple, go there via the boats, and come off the ramp. turn right off the ramp and you'll come to a huge pyramid that is behind the normal temple. go up to the third level and jump into the canal at that ring (not all the way up to the top where the door is). you will be able to go into one of the drains there. the middle of the cannal will have a passage leading between the two waterways and in there will be the entrance to vivec's puzzle canal. let me know if you can't figure out the puzzle... and just a hint, dont attack anything in there. Oh, and silver longswords are in the chest by the shrine... you'll know what i mean.
