Can someone who is familiar with the diffrences between the GF series cards plz tell me how much of a diffrence there will be between my Geforce 2 MX(which works pretty good on most games, only occasional slowdowns in MW but other than that its fine.). And a Visiontek Xtasy GeForce3 Titanium200 64M AGP card.
I been tryin to figure out if it is worth buying the GF3 (its only 85 dollars but still..), but i dont really know how much better it will make everything run(like MW). I dont wanna pay 85 dollars to make my graphics a little better but i would gladly pay it to make them a lot better. So could someone tell me how much better the GF3 AGP would make my graphics better than the GF2 MX i got right now.. Thanks... P.S.: Buying a Geforce 4 is pretty much out of the question because there is no way im paying more than 150 for better graphics and i know GF4s can be a lot more than that even.. Well first of all, if you are looking for specs about the cards, go to a gaming site or www.nvidia.com and se the cards speed and special enhancements. The GeForce 3 cards have better shadow, reflex, lightning effects and other goodies that will make alot of difference to your game, also they are alot faster and the more memory, the smoother the textures and light calculations will be. You will also have the oppurtunity to play in higher resolutions as well.
GeForce 2 MX card īlack alot of the special abilities in these areas compaired to the "real" GeForce cards and the higher version, the more goodies. Definately worth a buy. I upgraded from a GeF0rce 2 GTS 32 MB card to a GeForce4 TI4200 128 MB card, and itīs a different world I can tell you..

wolfgir if im not mistaken the gf4 ti4200 is only a 64 meg ddram card not 128. thats only for 4400 and 4600.
and i wouldnt buy a gf3 either. ti 200 is not much cheaper than that of a gf4 ti4200. and you can buy a gf4 4400 online for about $225 4200 for $151 and the gf3 for $84. but if you really wanna tell how a card measures up to the test goto 3dmark2001 .com they have a benchmark for your card that is so intense the gf2 cant run 7 of the tests cause its so graphic intensive. |

I'm getting a 128 MB GeF 4200 Ti in my upgrade tomorrow. I'm going for a 2GB P4 (all intel, no VIA), 512 DDR, and trying to import a Turtle Beach sound card - will put in my SB Live 5.1 in the meantime. The game doesn't arrive for another week in OZ, but here's hoping that my new set-up has the processing grunt for this puppy.

Stay away from the mx cards. They are missing a number of features such as texel shaders. Always go with the ti series card. It will make a difference.

FYI I'm running a GeF 4600 on a P3 700 @ 256mb sdram, and Morrowind runs beatifully. Your extra memory and higher processor speed should make you delirious. Even so, a memory manager will likely improve performance. I use Cacheman, and like it. |

Unfortunately, gaming is like that - you upgrade your system and go through the period of delerium. Then the games outgrow your puter and the depressions sets in. I am looking forward to being back in the sun again for a small period
![]() Sure it costs, but I like the way a Spanish friend of mine puts things - "David..... do not worry, it is only numbers" ![]()
