You shadowed the group as they traveled south. You remained a safe distance, sometimes scouting the roads, sometimes traveling paralally, most of the time following the tracks.

You took good care not to venture too close to the rangers.

One mile west of the main road, you heard several faint noise from the woods. You could choose to ignore it, or investigate.

Kendril decides he better investigate. Out in the open plains, the only thing you'll find making noise would be alive. That means something incredibly stupid, incredibly strong, or a group of travlers. At any rate, it could be dangerous to not know.

[A few seconds later] You hear the noises again. It seems
to be coming from over behind some rocks. You climb
over a few large boulders and before you, you see in somewhat of a crumpled mess a small dragon. And its staring right at you! It apparently is a bit injured, because there is blood scattered about the rocks around it, and its far wing is bent over in a way that it should not be! Also several bolts and arrows are pertruding from its scales!

Kendril gets a sudden uneasy feeling. He looks around the scene for signs of the struggle. He's no ranger, but he is versed in te ways of combat. He looks for anything that might reveal who was involved as well as signs of more of the creatures.

The creature had a triangle head. Its eyes flashing dangerously at you, apparently, he just got off from a severe combat. He cocked his head backwards, high in the air, (one feet about your eye level) and looked down at you, ready to lash out a deadly strike should you approach.
"Go away!" He roared threatenly

Kendril was a bit surprised at his chance to leave without battle, but then again, it looked as though this creature didn't want to see any more battle this day. He decided to persue a dangerous course of action, but figured he already had the upper hand.

"You are injured. I can help"

The creature hardly relexed. His good wing flapped once, a strong gust of wind blew over your face, your hood fell off. The creature seemed to be confused for a while

"Drow?" He leaned closer to you, and blew his nose in front of your face as if sniffing. "No, not a full drow" His expressions calmed a little, "So you are not sent by the caravans to finish me off"

He seemed to relex a little bit, and lowered his head. With a squrm, a flare of hope pass his eyes, he said "Will you help me?"

"I may be able to help. But you must help me in return."

"I seek a group of adventurers. Their loaction to me is known. I wish to join their party for my own reasons. Included in this troupe is 2 rangers."

He let that thought set on the beast for a moment. Surely he could understand the predicament. (Drow joining a ranger!)

"You must help me t join this group. I had a few ideas how, but any ideas you could offer would be welcome."

The creature looked at you for a moment, as if studying your intention. Then nodded his head eagerly "A minor spell for me indeed, now come behind me and tell me about the wounds on my back, you know that I am unable to tend the wounds there..." His voice sounded frustrating.

As you walked behind the serpent, a sudden movement revealed his tail. A long slender muscled tail shot up to you, at the end is a deadly poisonous talon! Before you could retreat to a safe distance, you felt the sting on your legs. You knees went numb and dropped to the floor. You heard the serpent breath a relieved sigh, then started talking

"Don't worry, this will not kill you, but if you try anything ... ... unintelligent, you'll die in twelve hours."

He lowered his tail, and said "I can cure you with a spell. Now tend my wounds."

With that said, the wyvern dropped his head on the floor, completely confident in his superiority in this situation.

He made note of each of the wounds individually. None looked too serious, but all together, he was pretty beat up. He did the best he could to remove or break off arrows and bolts. One night's rest for a magical beast such as a wyvern should be all he needs to heal enough for the upcoming task. Kendril wasn't worried about losing the party because he knew their current location and the direction they were headed. He could easily catch up to them with help from his odd companion.

Finishing the task, he asks the wyvern to please remove the venom. "I have no intentions of harming you. I require your services and have given you mine. I ask not for your trust, only your cooperation."
