How do I get the Sphere to work as a stronghold?- the Cowled Wizards have said something about working in co-operation with them, but I cant do anything in the sphere- Please help!

First of all, you need to be a single-/dual-/multi-class mage, sorceror, or wild mage (ToB) to get this Stronghold. Next, you need to finish the Planar Sphere quest. Lavok will grant you the Sphere, and at that point it becomes your stronghold.

Yeah, you cant get the sphere as a stronghold unless you are a Mage, of any kind.

From your post I gather that you've already killed Lavok and talked to Teos, right? IIRC, after you speak with Teos for the first time, one of the Solamnic Knights comes to talk to you about their return to their home plane. That's the first quest you get after acquiring the Sphere as a stronghold.

Teos is that Cowled Wizard that gates in after you've killed Lavok and makes the proposal about you working together with the Cowles. A guy in a red robe. In your first post you typed:
