The best wizardry game iīve played is "Bane of the cosmic forge" i kept playing that game for years (with no sound because the sound was really horrible) so much fun with a sollid plot. How about a remake with the engine of wizardry8, wow that would keep me playing it all over again and import my party to wiz.8

Actually i wish they'd bring out a better version of Ultima Online "the expansions got kinda boring after a while" or soemthing similar. Ive yet to see a game go into so much depth when it came to skills/abilities/class definitions.

Welcome to Ironworks Ironmadeit, well actually that rises an intersting question: Who owns the rights and the source code for the Wizardry 8 engine, now that Sir-Tech is closing down ?

As you probably know the game was made by DW Bradley, he also made Wizard and warriors a game similar to wiz.8. But in the end it is al about money. Wiz.8 hit the market with a big BANG average reviews are above 90%, that is amazing for a game with no publisher, here in Europe it is difficult to buy the game the only option you have is to buy online, i am still waiting for my copy and play the demo untill my copy arrives in my trembling hands.
As far as i know Bane of the cosmic forge is owned by sir-tech so that would be no problem (bradley earns more money if a remake is done). So lets hope that they sell a lot of wiz8 so it will be possible to continue. All sir-tech games are high quality products (now i start to sound like a salesman i better stop) Cheers on ironworks for their great site

Speaking of Remakes, a bit off topic
Was I reading right that they're doing a remake of Ultima 5? I'd seen things about ultima 5:Lazarus, and it will be a straight remake with better graphics?

Seigelets (made with Dungeon Seige) are in the works for:
~ Ultima 5 ~ Ultima 6 ~ Ultima 7 ~ Ultima 9 other engines are being used for the following Ultimas: ~ Ultima 1 (they have a tech demo released. check it out! its quite wonderful) ~ Ultima 4 there is an Ultima that is being made as a plug-in (same thing as a dungeon seige seigelet, or basically any mod for any game) for Morrowind. however, i cannot remember which one it is or it's website. that one is definite, as todd howard and the boys at morrowind are helping the ultima remake team design it. this is to ensure a very professional plug in will be released around the same time as the game. it will help the plug in community for morrowind, and we all know that TES fans are Ultima fans at heart, too. ![]() anyway, i think that only 2 are not being remade. or not at this time, anyway. WOW!
I had no idea the Ultima's were being remade. Thanks for the links. Totally agree about Bane too. Would love to see a modern version of that. |

Hey did u guys ever play a game by Interplay called dragon wars ??
it was a first person RPG like the older wizardry games but it just kicked ass. U started with a small party of like 3 or 4 guys u could make. But u start in a place called purgatory. not a Dante type purgatory, but a place named that because its where all the perceived dreggs of sociaty were forced to live. It was a big mud filled swamp like place surrounded by huge wall on one side and a sort of cliff on the other. Basically a place that u could not escape at least alive. Oh by the way u start the game naked thats how poor u are the whole game seems to have a lot of historical, biblical, and literature references. The planet is like 95% water. the lands are all a bunch of islands it seems that the polar ice caps are melting or something there is also talk of a great flood Magic is outlawed u must learn magic in secret guilds most of the time having o free the leader of a particualr guild from captivity to learn the top spells. now those are meaningfull quests, (not just go and find the sacred bananna and bring it to me then i will teach u how to be a master) anyway the game is full of mystery and backstabbing u even get to go to the underworld and it has a river styx even there is a whole point of asencion too u must climba a mountain of salvation and battle a beast from the pit (satan) it has loads of puzzles that make sense like a quest to find a pair of glasses that can see a door that leads to the entrance of an invisible school of magic] the glases are under the rubble of another building said to be the old home where the great wizard died at after his home was ransacked by the evil government. ohh by the way the game main govenrment is in with the beast. but not all parts of the government are fully under its control u can bribe, even go through beurocratice means to make things work like getting permits stamped and passports to go into lands ur not allowed in. or u can just killthe guards the game is just littered with analogies from the great literary works of the past Dante's Inferno and Purgattorio the aenneid the epic of gilgamesh old testament even some of the ideas from the lord of the rings, not alot but some even the games best weapon is stuck in a huge stone. in the middle on the worlds biggest free city(most cities are governed by the bad government) only a decendant of some dude that saved that town long ago(typically its U)will be able to weild the sword. but only till u prove worthy or something. now the game doesnt let u pick as many races orprofessions but it has a lot of skills for u to learn and they do go up as u go along u have ur basice attributes then if ur a fighteng type u have ur waeapond skills if ur a magic type u have 5 different schools of magic Sun, Druid, oops i forgot the others i think arcane is another one any how u then have a bunch of skills that go per ur proffesion like in wizardry plus u have another bunch of skills open to everyone that u can not only level up in later but also add new skills so if u forget to get skill such as diplomacy at the begining u can get it later when u level up for being such an old game that i played on a comodore 64 (well into my sega genesis years)the game had just a tremendous amount of depth and maturity. it also had a lot of the tongue in cheek humor that a game like wizardry has, maybe not as much but still a good deal. i have played many kinds of RPG's im my day. and even though im not an old fogey, im 25 i have not yet played a better game than that its the best game i have ever played and its oooooooooold. Now i think lots of people might dismiss it becaus the name DragonWars is just sooooo lame. but other than that and that some people might think it steals too much of its material (it doesnt tho it blends some of our myths and history into that of the people of that world) the game is just great i would put Wiz 8 and the OG wizardry tied for 2nd and dragonwars first now having this game modded over to Wiz 8's engine would rock hmm or maybe OG wizardry ported....hmm i wonder how boltac's trading post would look in 3D Here are a few links: http://www.mobygames.com/game/sheet/gameId,2026 http://www.gamesdomain.com/gdreview/...pga/urpga.html http://db.gamefaqs.com/computer/appl...gon_wars_a.txt http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Exhibi...nwars/main.htm http://www.gamefaqs.com/computer/app...view/R434.html

Yes I remember Dragon Wars. It was one of my favorite games. You were given the option to import your characters from Bard's Tale and I think Wizardry too. I played that game for a very long time. Lots of fun.
