If you have not seen this movie rent it. It was released in 2002 but this was the first time I heard of it. Possibly one of the best sci-fi movies I have watched to date.
Plot: It is about a futuristic world, were a strict regime has eliminated war by suppressing emotions: books, art and music are strictly forbidden and feeling is a crime punishable by death. Cleric John Preston is a top ranking government agent responsible for destroying those who resist the rules. When he misses a dose of Prozium, a mind-altering drug that hinders emotion, Preston, who has been trained to enforce the strict laws of the new regime, suddenly becomes the only person capable of overthrowing it. [ 10-21-2005, 12:43 AM: Message edited by: pritchke ] |

Ya! It's a good movie. The idea of the Gramaton Cleric rocks. My only gripe with the movie was a few fundamental flaws in a world without emotion. It would fail pretty quickly. But it's only a movie i guess.
Christian Bale (Batman Begins, American Psycho) is awesome in this!

Well, the action was really well-coreographed even if the plot was a rehash and predictable. However, what science-fiction these days isn't formulaic?

(Spoilers!)
Very entertaining movie, but the end was a bit of an anti-climax. After having butchered every security guard in the nation, he faces his former partner. You get the 'I've been waiting for this for a long time' dialogue, after which he kills him in less then two seconds. |
