So here I am on level 5 looking for something to really, really challenge me so I go to the area called Deathpit. To my surprise here there are 7 ancient Black Dragons. So here I am faced with the seven so I start tearing into them. They are breathing on me and trying to claw me and I start killing them one by one. Hey I am thinking I am doing pretty darn good. Five or six are dead and I decided to look at what kind of experience I was getting. To my surprise I was getting 7 whole points per dragon. So that really deflated me. Thought I was doing real good just to find I wasn't doing anything that great.

Hmmm we have been having problems with the experence rewards. What level were you at the time and did you have anyone in a party (I.e they may not have been on the same level as you but were they still in your party)

I think that to get xp off of a kill, the party members would have to be in the area. While this does not necessarily hold true for quest xp, xp for single kills is usually local.

I was not part of a party and was a mere level 38 (F22/R8/PM8). Something like that. Meant to include that. Even though I was a pretty high level, I thought ANcient Blacks were more. I just thought it was funny, Thats all.

You are not the only one getting that kind of experience. I went into the TrollBark forest (yes, yes, stupid of me) to seek out some vengeance for getting wiped out so easily before. Now, I can at kill one of them per death of my own (as I still have no concept of defensive magic), but I was only getting seven points per slay. What gives? They on their own can take on a 20 rogue/20 wizard and are only worth seven experience points?
NO. NO. NO. Give me my motherload, damnit! PILE ON THAT XP! I don't care if it won't help me a lick! I want those experience points. I earned them, and if I cannot carve those Trolls into steaks to go fishing for devilsharks or dragonfish with (*hintHINT!* Ziroc!) I want those points to know I have done something incredible. And yes, those Lizardmen still hand me my behind with being hasted and two +9 UberDaggers. *shrugs* I will live. *grumbles and thinks I need to buy more defensive spells and learn how to use them.*

The trouble with relying only on defensive magic is that if you are killed you respawn in the thick of it with no spells up. The ideal solutiuon is to persuade some idiot tank, who likes to get hit a lot, to stand in front of you while you blast things with magic

I'm removing this henchmen script as I type. Screw it. I'm almost done with removing it, and will add a smaller version of the script--the one I installed added stuff like bleeding, and messed with the XP and respawn code--which pissed me off. So I'll find one that simply does what we need (hench conversations) and managing inventory and such. Won't take too long.

Okay, I can wait to try to make myself The Ultimate DemonSlaying Cookie Of Dooooom!!(tm).
I was still wondering about those trolls giving me only seven experience points when in a fistfight type situation they kill me as often as I kill them. a few times they were even reading "Effortless" or "Moderate". I found that really strange, as those guys are capable of wiping out lower level parties by themselves.

Dam I thought there was something fishy....I was running around 1st lvl of undermountain, soloing and picking up discarted goodies, and I killed some Umbers and some dark elves and all I got was 5 to 7 exp. per kill.....I also killed 3 fire giants, then ran like the wind upstairs and only got 23 exp. per each one I wasted.....Well dont know if it's script related or a bug....So hopefully next time I go down to 1st lvl it may be fixed....If not will let know....bye

The bug was fixed a while back, I dunno why you had that happen.. what level were you? Maybe if you were high level, killing real low level monsters doesn't reward XP as much??
As far as I can tell, the bug was fixed.. hmmm |
