What I don't understand, is how come, for example, Gleicas on his own was so much harder for me to defeat than two trolls and Tor'gas combined. Was it my playiing style or what? Did I improve in the two seconds it took to defeat the Umber Hulks? I just don't get it.
Also, is there an 'easy' way to defeat hasted creatures, esp. the guys in the Harper's Hold? [ 05-22-2003, 12:21 PM: Message edited by: Dundee Slaytern ] |

![]() Glacias is tough, but recall that he fights on the side of good before something happened to him. There is a reason why the Yuan-Tis decided it was not worth the effort to try and kill him, but to 'persuade' him to join their side. Yuan-Tis can be quite charming creatures, if you catch my drift. ![]() Welcome to the Ironworks Forums. ![]() |

It is not just you. Glacias is not the easiest of enemies around.
Firstly, the potion he quaffs is not a Potion of Speed (that merely increases your movement rate) but an Oil of Speed that increases both movement rate and attacks drastically. Secondly he is a high-level fighter with a mean thac0 and many attacks even without the potion. Thirdly he has a big full plate mail that makes him a bit harder to hit than the regular platemailed adversaries you should be used to. Take heart, however. Glacias is just this: A high-level fighter, and besides dishing out a lot of melee damage in no time he has little else going for him. He has no immunities or anything, so hit him with whatever debilitating spell you might have. Direct damage is usually not that good an idea because you can't damage as quickly as he damages you. One thing you might like to try is a charm (Charm Person, Dire Charm, Domination) type spell. Watch what happens when it wears off.

BioWare also left you a nice stack of Darts of Stunning in the room right before Glacias, by way of a helpful little hint.

Thanks for all the help! I defeated him anyway, while I was offline, but had to use all my summon and invisibility spells. This seemed to work Okay, as very few of my team members were hurt. Glad to discover that I'm not the only one!

P.S. Sorry if I included a spoiler and didn't mention it...didn't mean to...
Incidentally (Government District Spoiler ahead), what happens if you obey Anomen's father and attack Saerk? Is it really justified? And was it worth a piffling 9000-odd experience points to refuse this quest just so I could get to Nalia's Keep faster and dump Anomen when I got there? The tale of Anomen and what happens if you (do / do not) take revenge on Saerk is a complex and interesting one, one that will be to your benefit if you take different paths (in 2 different games, of course) to experiment and see what happens.

You moderators seem to know everything... can you help me?
1.Most certainly small orphan boy, and peace be with you! 2.Go away you annoying little postaholic! Please choose '1.'! Anyway, my question is, if you a) accept and b)complete Edwin's wuest, do you have your Cowled Wizard's License revoked? It's just that I can hardly spare another 5000gp (It is 5000 isn't it?) Also, (this is ages before I talked to Daleson), upon completion of the quest of that weird wizard who is killed by the bird (Encrypted to prevent spoilers, see!), I found that my Reputation had been lowered from 15 to a mere 9! Any explanations. |

1. No. The "Spellcasting License" is not tied to anything else in the game. Even if you went on a Commoner-killing rampage, you'll still be allowed to cast whatever you want, wherever you want.
2. Your Reputation can only go down if you: A) Complete certain quests in an Evil way B) Get caught trying to shoplift from a Store C) Kill anyone designated as an "Innocent" (usually Commoners, Noblemen or the like.) I'm going with C here. Killing a single innocent can easily kick you down 6 Rep points, and they are so easy to kill when you're not trying to. (They'll happily wander right into one of your Area-of-Effect spells, and since they only have about 5 hitpoints, the odds of their surviving are rather slim).

Come to think of it, I did kill a Priest of the Eyeless guy, when I attempted to pickpocket him with Yoshimo...he attacked me, and my minor spell sequencer sorta came into effect...anyway, cut a long story short, thanks!
