Decisions! Decisions! HELP MEEEEE!!

Hmmm!..this is who i have at the moment

Me (Half-Elf Ranger) (Frostreaver and Shield of Reflection)
Minsc (Liralcor & Sword of Chaos & +3 Bow of some sort)
Anomen (Flail Of Ages & +2 Sling)
Jaheira (Scimtar +1 & +2 Sling)
Yoshimo (Katana +1 and Bow that fires 3 arrows a round)
Aerie (Staff Spear +2 & +3 Sling)

Now i'm quite happy using myself as a tank (always have done, glory and all that!), and Minsc and Anomen are nice and handy when it comes to peppering from afar and getting stuck in when things become hairy....but it feels like theres something missing.

Yoshimo is great cause he's got that bow which fires 3 arrows a round...and he's a good thief so he stays....Aerie has some good offensive spells...i like Melfs Minute Meteor!...BUT!

Jaheira is starting to get on my nerves, she has a good few spells and has Fire Elemental and Monster Sum 3 - but when it comes to getting stuck in she doesn't seem to be that effective...even with the ogre strength gauntlets/belt (i forget which it is)....i've been uming and ahing about wether or not to replace her with Mazzy or Valygar......but i need some persuading! anyone have anything to say about either of them that might swing me?

Hmm...tis been a while since I have been here...anyway lets see...
Mazzy - Halflinng Fighter with some cool weapons
Valygar - Ranger (Stalker) which is nothing special in my opinion I suggest you go with mazzy another tank wont hurt you...or you can always go with Keldorn

Do you have TOB installed or just SOA? I like Jaheira a lot, especially if you have TOB. Having a summon insects spell is so valuable. Your team is allready pretty fighter/tank heavy, so if you want to drop Jaheira(which I wouldn't) you might want to wait until you can get Imoen. That would mean more mage spells and well the other thing I was going to mention is a big Yoshimo spoiler so I won't blab in case you don't know. [img]smile.gif[/img]

If all else fails and you can't decide just smoke some of that stuff you have listed as an interest on your profile. It always works for me. Or at least I think it does. My memory ain't what it used to be.

Well...I just like to say, when you end doing your jobs for Aran Lynvil drop Yoshi and take Jan, Jan is a better theif IMHO and has some cool items which may be useful..flash master bruser mates anyone?

Aye this is the problem you see! i do like Jaheira because she can take quite a beating and i've got her to -5 and 19 strength so she's quite hard, but i think its her weapons which are letting her down. She's got a +1 Scimitar which is fine for disposing of your normal type baddies, but when it comes to Lichs and Golems and such she does no damage what so ever.

As for Imoen i was thinking of swapping her for Yoshimo...but Yoshimo is one of my fave characters...so might get rid of Aerie...what are Imoens offensive spells like?

Give her Belm (+1 ApR and consider as a weapon+2) or the club in the druid grove (i dont know the name in english) or a good staff (there are plenty out there) and then you'll see she kicks ass.

About Imoen spells, she's a wizard that means she has plenty of good offensive spells.

Is BELM an abbrieviation of summat? or is that the name of the item?

Name of the item, Belm +2 .. grants and extra attack per round

You already have two parttiem clerics, so you don't really need another half druid. But between Minsc, Anomen and yourself, you should have plenty of fighters as well. Yoshimo will do as a thief, although I personally prefer to take Jan. Taking Jan instead would also mean that you have all the bases covered even without Jaheira or another 6th partymember. But, since Yoshi's such a good friend of yours, by all means keep him. You're a little low on mages perhaps, but if cose combat and archery is more your style than magic, you'll manage until you can rescue Imoen.
So, you'd have to fill the slot with another tank. Mazzy wouldn't fit in because she's too short. Valygar is a ranger, so with you and Minsc in the party that would make three. Since rangers are such a cool class, I'd say go for it, but not everyone may agree (My first party, BTW, was a ranger, with Minsc and Valygar, Yoshi/Imoen, Jaheira and Aerie. That worked well enough for me, and as it turned out I never had to kick anyone out of the party. I hate kicking people out. Anyway, just wanted to say the two look very similar).
Alternatively, you could pick Keldorn. So, just run the checklist.

*Can the problem be solved using different weapons
-yes: solve it
-no: go on to the next question
*Are you romancing Jaheira
-yes: keep her
-no next q
*Is it really a problem or are you just imagining it?
-imagining it: keep Jaheira
-it's a problem: dump her

You've now determined whether or not to keep Jaheira in your party. Now, there's an open slot

*Do you know which NPC, if any, should fill it?
-yes: fill it with the NPC you had in mind
-no: next q
*Should it be anything other than a tank?
-yes: Pick Jan
-no: next
*Do you mind having one shorter character in the party?
-no: Take Mazzy
-yes: next
*Do you mind having 3 rangers in your party?
-no: Take Valygar
-yes: Take Keldorn
