I suppose you are talking about the Doomsayer, that apperition you encounter at the archeological dig. Well, entagle works on him. When you come out of the mine. Cast it, he may save but you'll hear it and probably see it in your dialogue window. If he does save, cast it again. If he is entangled whack him with everything you got. Magic missile works and every damaging spell you have. If he survives he's probably wounded a lot up to the point that your fighters can kill it. You probably need magical weapons for this fight, allthough i'm not to sure about this.

Problem is, though, Jan (thanks for pointing out that error.. DOH!), my group is at level 3 or 4. Jaheira has got Entangle, and it does seem to work, but Magic Missile is not one of my spells *yet*. But I'll give it a go! Thanks!

Facing tough opponents at low-mid level is when the game is at it's funnest.
I've heard Bless doesn't actually help that much, but if you have it memorized use it of course.. Cast Protection from Evil on your tank if you have it... If you have any potions of heroism, invulnerability, power, or strength in your backpack that you had forgotten about, now is a good time to break them out. Entangle would be your best bet, as J.R. said. Maybe cast Aid and Barksin on your tank if you have either of hose memorized. Or have Jaheira cast that on herself and use Flame Blade (7-10 damage vs. undead). I think undead are sucsceptible to fire so if you can lob an oil of firey burning, use a wand of fire, or cast Agannazar's Scorcher without toasting any of your own people in the process then that might help. You might try having your tank absorb the brunt of his damage as Jaheira heals him, with everyone else pelting him with ranged weapons. I would definitely try Blindness if you have that spell. Are you using Chromatic Orb instead of Magic Missile? That doles out about the same damage. At level 3 it does 1-8 fire damage. A level 4 mage casting it may Blind the target for up to 10 rounds in addition to doing 1-10 damage. When a target is blinded I get my melee fighters away from the enemy and let him stand there utterly defensless as I hit him with ranged weapons and spells. But if your fighters continue to engage the enemy in melee, he will be swinging away at them at a -4 on saving throws and a penalty of 4 points to his AC. I would think given that the Doomsayer sometimes fail to save against Entangle as J.R. observed, eventually you should be able to win this fight with that spell. quote: Lemernis, You've been around here a long time now, and your opinions are usually excellent and valid, but how can you say this? Bless and Chant, are two of the best spells on the game(Chant is obviously better, but Druids cannot use). Bless really does make a difference, and I have playtested it. Tried fights without Bless, tried them with. Bless makes it far easier. Doomsayers can be hard early on, and I think @ level 4 you might struggle to beat it, but you can always come back later. Listen to the above advice, it is good and will get you far!!! But just make sure you cast Haste *depending on the level of your Mage* and Bless or Chant!
