Hmmm, well first thing to do is check your BG1 cd's for glue. That's right, glue. I've heard a lot of people complain that their BG cd's are deffective because excess glue from the cardboard cd holder gets on them. If this is the case then either try to clean off the cd's or send them back for a refund.
Next, assuming your cd's are okay, the Autorun startup for BG must not be working. So just go down to Start, Run, Browse, then look in Drive E: (or whatever your cd drive is) and run Autorun or Setup. Then from there you can install BG1 and in the future you can run BG from the program folders or from shortcuts on the desktop, just like any other game. Hope this helped. Good luck!

I have heard not a single good thing about this Original Saga version. Nothing but complaints. If you can find the original 5 disk set and the expansion disk somewhere I would return the Original Saga and get the earlier version instead. The 5 disk set has a printed manual whereas the Original Saga has it in PDF format. (I mean if you've played BG2 you won't need the manual really, but it's nice to have.) If you have a CD-DVD drive then the BG1 DVD is great, but if it is even available anymore you would have to order it I'm sure.
Addendum: posted today on the PBG BG1 board: I was shopping last night and could not pass up this deal. It was at Wal-Mart, of all places, a boxed set containing Baldur's Gate on DVD, and 2 CD's, one with Tales of the Sword Coast, and the other had 14 old school AD&D RPG's. I finally have the beholder series on CD! Anyways, price was $20. Go Wal-Mart! [ 02-14-2002: Message edited by: Lemernis ]
