Well, my BG2 installation got corrupted somehow, and I don't know why. In any event, I was forced to reinstall, as restoring my backup didn't work either. I used the Uninstallshield program, which removed both SoA and ToB. Then I deleted the directory, with everything in it, that was left over. However, now, when I try to reinstall, the Autorun has the "Play" command, as if it were still installed. Not only that, when I go into setup.exe manually, it asks me if I want to uninstall! SoA is still in the Add/Remove Programs box, even though my registry cleaner says it's free of errors. I know very little about computers, so any help would be great.

I have run into similar problems and they do indeed cause a lot of frustration. When you have the "play" option do you also have the uninstall option? If so, click on it. I know the last time I had this issue it was mostly related to reinstalling ToB. When I went to uninstall the game it somehow figured out that I no longer had the game and eventually I was able to reinstall it.

One thing I learned from that is a complete reinstall is the wrong way to go. What you can od after you do your reinstall (and after you fully patch and Baldurdash yourself) is to save a copy of your override folder, your Chetin.key and your baldur.ini (I think the last one is correct, I can check when I get home and will correct if necessary). When you do this you can "reinstall" the game in less than 5 minutes. First, you would want to delete your weidu file (the text file which lists your weidu mods and the order of their installation). Once you have done this copy your original override folder and overwrite your current override folder. Do the same with your chetin.key and your baldur.ini file. This will essentially allow you to start over. One thing to remember though is that your saved games will still be there. That does not mean you can play them without any issues (unless you have the same mods etc installed after your reinstall).

Anyway, good luck to you and hopefully my rambling will be of some use. :~)

Peace, John.

Yeah, I did make a backup, the problem was even with it, it locked up whenever I left an area. So I sort of had my hands tied. What I ended up doing was installing it on another computer on my network, then copying all the files over and changing baldur.ini. around, which worked, but my computer and the CDs don't acknowledge it's there. I have to go straight to BGMain.exe, which works. Oh well.
