Mmmmm gullwing doors.

Why is it that our most "modern" time period was mid-century? From the style of the cars (including the first gullwing) to the mid-century modernist houses of the times, nothing today feels as forward-thinking style-wise as that time period was.

On that note, I could lose those ugly ground effects on that particular model.

Because since that time we had one president assassinated (leading to severe culture shock), massive social upheaveal (including race riots and women's lib movements), disillusionment with government, energy crises, rampant consumerism, and now Internet-based retractions from humanity and an ever-faster rate of changing social ideas/memes (are we flash-mobbing today, or what?).

I know, right!

You might want to view the test track footage, there you can see the 'real' purpose of those "ugly" blades. I've had the privilege of driving on the Autobahn, and at 140+ MPH, things are not as they are at say, less than 75. One needs that little bit of 'edge' to keep the front end steering, and the rear end in line.

I've heard in recent times, the A-bahn has a speed limit in most sections, with an upward limit of 220KPH (135MPH), and most areas reduced to 120KPH (75MPH). We used to run the A70 from Schweinfurt to Bamberg, roughly 60 KM, in about 18 minutes, ahh, those were the days!
