Will bard stronghold be put on hold if I go to Chapter 4 & 5?
The bard stronghold seems to have some strict time rules. Will I ruin it in any way if I go to Brynlaw before completing it?

You poor guy! The bard stronghold will nag you to distraction. BUT, while in the Underdark all of those niggling little nags are put on hold. Now, if you haven't accepted the stronghold yet, then I don't know of any time restrictions.
P.S. If you've talked to Quayle but haven't gone to the theater yet, you've got plenty of time AFAIK.
