The Info tab on the item normally gives you the...

The Info tab on the item normally gives you the THACO information. However some non magical items have THACO bonuses (Composite bows, & high quality swords etc)
and they don't work vs some undead....

To give an example the character had AC -3(Minus) , then after putting on the boots it stayed at AC-3, when he took them off again it went to AC-2.
