"Logically" (as if logic necessarily applies to RPGames) tree surfing can't be absolutely necessary to win the game. Not all parties are going to have a character that would have the necessary stats...

I don't remember how one turns the fighters into Samurais. All my notes and the game manual plus saved games were destroyed in a fire here. :( I haven't had time to replay...

Oh yes - not a common problem, but I can recall there being some areas where the size of your lead character mattered!! It is a weird glitch!!
