When I was 16, I was swiming in the sea at southend, a seaside resort not to far from London, I considered myself quite a strong swimmer so swam out a fair way towards some boats that had anchored, when I decided to turn back, the force of the tide going out made things very hard going, I remember treading water and looking at the people on the boats, but deciding not to shout as I didn't want to embarass myself!! how weird is that?, I tried to swim again but gave up and tried to tread water only to find my legs crashing against the seabed which even though I was a long way out was there due to the tide going out..arse. I stood up and walked casually back to my towel, I belived it was the end when I gave up not knowing I was in shallow water.. Lesson learnt.
Also had to land in the crash position on a flight to Orlando with my brother and two sisters after a 'wheel not locked' warning light came on, had to circle for the longest 40 mins of my life to burn fuel. Althugh we landed at an angle the wheel was fine and the fire crews returned to their sheds foam intact.
It was funny on the return flight two weeks later, when the stewardess gave the saftey demo most of the passangers, who had been on the outward flight started laughing.
It also made most of the theme park rides non events
