IIRC, dragon ore says "silvery metal" when you find it. Everything else is a gem.
You can find dragon ore way down in the depths of the mines, in places where you'll be glad you learned that Lavawalk spell.
What's that? Didn't learn it yet? Well, I'd place it mighty high on my priority list, I would, and I'd try to raise a level real soon...
