For what it's worth, Toad Village is not a required quest for the main storyline, so skipping it won't hurt the game. It's by far the buggiest area, which is sad, because it's one of the most interesting ones. But with the "blocking toads" and Ekbu not always hearing "Ukabu", it's sometimes just not worth it.
At least, it's not worth starting over if you've already completed the Crypt. If you're just starting out, you can reset adventures and try again (and also get higher-level characters that way!)
