I think we definitely go for the first and hopefully the second will follow at some point.
As for where in the Realms...I don't think we need to worry about that until it's time to work on the mod. I plan on doing several maps, covering as much of Faerun as I can.
I'm going to try to do a map of the Underdark, too. Ooh- it would be cool if I could get them at the same scale so I could do an overlay type of thing- just 'cause I've always wondered.
