Umm, isnt it d6? and hp doesnt matter, because a creature can roll a d20 for hp and still be under d6 for levels. (d6xd20 = 120 hp = can still be killed with a death spell.)
Umber Hulks come to mind. In my encounters with them, they seem to have more than 64 hp and are still killed with a death spell.
