Is it worth the battle to kill this guy or should I just walk away after I get the two scrolls off him? I hear you can get these spells from him if you kill him: Wail of the Banshee,Incendiary Cloud,Time Stop,Infravision.

I believe he is talking about the imprisoned mage in the Underdark.
The first time Vithal gives you something.If you complain he gives you something else,and if you complain again he starts a fight.I don't remember what exactly are your rewards.

I usually kill him... no wait... I have always killed him. Hmmmm... ...

Depends on my alignment and class. My last one I picked his pockets (with my Jester). Got Vhaliors helm which alone was worth it. Except maybe he gave me that willingly.... I can't remember. I got a fair few high powered scrolls too.

Actually, you get the Skull of Death from Vithal. You buy Vhailor's Helm from Deidre, the bonus merchant.
