Alright....in the first IWD, helmets played a major role in the getting/dishing a critical hit....I noticed that throughout the game, the dialogue box window does not show the critical hit message. Does this mean that the "helmet" effect does not hold that much importance...meaning, do you really need to have a helmet?

they dont do anything in the new rules, i think, they dont seem to do anything in the rule books or the game.

Helmets are strictly for show this time around. They have no power over critical hits, or anything else.

i dont see why they would, lets say you have a huge orc taking a critical hit swing with his axe to you torso, hows a helmet gonna stop it?

I see you have met my Half-Orc... He's quite gentle I assure you.

They're just a fashion accessory now so far as I know - doesn't really make sense though, I agree.

I think they should do something also, even just to give a +1 "Deflection" bonus against a percentage of hits that would realistically go on your head, say 20%?.
