Here goes:
Dwarven Fighter - 2*Axe, 2*Great Swords Human Paladin - 2*Great Sword/2*Large Sword Halfling Thief - *Dagger/*Missile Human Necro -*Missile Human Cleric - *Mace/*Stave Elven Ranger - **Missile Weapons/*Large Sword What do you think? I think they were the correct proficiences, so lets just see if it is better than BG1!!! |
Just one question. Two actually. Are you playing HOW aswell and on what difficulty setting are you playing ? Depending on this i would make the thief a multi class. Maybe a thief/mage. Again adhering to the above you might want to switch your ranger or fighter for a fighter/druid. And maybe swith your necromancer to a bard aswell.
If you are only playing IWD on a normal setting then it looks OK. [ 02-14-2002: Message edited by: JR Jansen ]
|

I had NO trouble---well, except for the mage thinking he was invincible ...Actually they made a rather awesome team! By the time they got to ToL, the ftrs both had +++++ on two types of swords (sword/ax for the dwarf)! |
You see to have a lot of manpower, but very little magic. I'd go with the thief mage idea and possibly a bard.

I would give each character a missile weapon. My group rains projectile death quite fast. Half of the battles end quickly when all six guys target one baddies at a time.
I used 2 crossbows 2 short/long bows 2 slings which is a good mix. |
I'll second Morgalas: I made sure each character that could do so started with "2-star" proficiency with ranged weapons. It's a beautiful thing to be able to "reach out and touch someone" and have a good portion of the enemy fallen before they ever land a blow. All my warriors specialized in bow; and I had each specialize in a melee weapon that was different than what the others picked. (Most of my party consists of warriors, since I am going to dual several fighters over to other classes.)
Have fun with your party! |

Pretty much any party could work, provided that you are creative enough to cook up effective strategies. My personal favorite party started out with these proficiencies:
Dwarven Fighter - **Axes, **Flails Human Paladin - **Great Swords, **Crossbows Halfling Cleric - *Maces, *Slings Half-Elven Druid - *Large Swords, *Daggers Half-Elven Conjurer - *Quarter Staves Elven Mage/Thief - *Short Swords, *Bows This may not look like much at first glance, lots of people say that it contains too little raw fighting power, but believe me: they can kick some serious butt. Two warriors, backed by a good deal of divine/arcane magic is really all you need IMO. |
I've just got up to deep into the Vale of the Shadows, and my party is doing ok. A bit more magic could be good, as I have to rest a lot for my spells to regenerate.
I'm playing bogstandard IWD, no HOW yet. I will get it asap though!!! I might level my theif up a bit, and then dual him to a Mage. What level would you think I should dual at? |
Ill second secretmaster magic will help
