I downloaded the Spirit weapons file to my BG2 override folder. Was it the right choice? Or was it a disaster?

Whoa...I haven't seen this one! Where can one such as I find said file? ;)

The "Spirit Weapons" patch is something that only makes the slightest bit of difference if you're playing a Totemic Druid: Normally, your Spirit Animals have their melee attacks rated as Normal weapons, which means there's quite a lot of stuff in the game that they can't hit. The Spirit Weapons patch raises the level of enchantment to +5/+6, depending on which animal you get.
The patch can be found <a href=http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG2/SpiritWeaponsFixed.zip>here</a>.

As to the ethics of it......It's certainly more than I would have done. True, the Spirit Animals are way too kickass to be wandering around with pansy-ass Normal weapons, but.....+6??? I just don't see a Level 9 Druid summoning a critter that can hit the Lesser Demon Lord. I would have set the enchantment to +2 or +3 and left it at that.

As to whether it was "a disaster" as far as potentially corrupting your game, I doubt it. Bugs are almost impossible in such a tiny MOD, and Sorcerers.net isn't known for hosting buggy wares anyway.

Thanks for the reply, but you failed to answer one question.

Did I copy that Spirit Weapons patch into the right folder?

The override folder is the right place for this kind of mod.
