Hi,
I'll make this short and sweet.
I've lost Jan Jansen, I know normally thats a good thing but I need him to be the third person in my three man party.
So I just stole the Daystar (thanks to Jan) and killed that evil ol' Lich and then a messenger came for Jan and I clicked the wrong dialogue entry and he left, to go sort out some 'family issues'.
Now ive come back to find him, he's not there...at the Jansen home i mean!?!
So any idea's what ive done wrong or how i can get him back(Like the CLUA console, but ive never used that and if that is the answer will it mess up my game?)?
Thanks a bunch Cuz I know you'll help,
FliX

(coz he cant post  so I offered to post it for him)

Here is info on enabling the debug console.

Try spawning Jan with the command:
CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("JAN15")

Felix says that: "error file 'Jan15' Not Found" - and that the the code you said doesnt work. Any other ideas?

did you put the debug mode=1 in the baldur ini. file?

Well, since you've gone to the trouble of asking this question I'll assume that you don't have a backup Save.....but it does sound like you're very early in the game, is it too late to start all over?

Even if you do get Jan to spawn, he'll proably be still screwed up. In my last game, I chose the wrong dialogue option:

Jan- "Would you be interested in a bit of merchandise, my friend?"
Me- "Not at this time, gnome."

And he wouldn't speak to me again. Jan- has nothing to say to you. "To hell with that," I said, "Time to bring out the power of Ctrl-Q." And hey, there's Jan, with all his equipment and sound files, he even banters with the party....

.....except that his quest wouldn't start. Some game variables had gotten screwed up somewhere, and there wasn't a damn thing I could do about it.

Like gid damnit, I'm nearing the end of the Bodhi quest so i am kinda far thru, but if its gonna mess my game up then i might as well restart it.
But i'd like some more info on the whole spawning people please?

Six: Whan Jan joins, a timer is set to fifteen days. You joined him with Ctrl+Q and skipped that part.
Anyway, he should have had something to say to you, had the game been patched at the time?

Calaethis:
1) "the wrong dialogue entry" is "Good riddance, gnome..." or "I'm afraid we haven't got time..."? If former, he's gone for good. If latter, he should go to his home (have you checked all the floors?).

2) How to get Jan back?
Save the game (in the case we ruin the game completely).
Type the aforementioned command: CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("JAN12") (Exxon is right. JAN15 is from ToB).
Now, there are some variables that need to be adjusted. Jan would be a brand new Jan, his dialog and quest should be reset. You have two options now:
2a)If you use Shadowkeeper, save the game in a different slot, exit and open it with SK. Find variables:
JanMove
TalkedToJan
JanLissaPlot
And set them to 0
It may be tricky to find them, as I believe those are not sorted alphabetically. If some of those is not present, create it.
2b)The other option is setting those via the debug console:
CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("JanMove","GLOBAL",0)
CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("TalkedToJan","LOCALS",0)
CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("JanLissaPlot","GLOBAL",0)
Now talk to him and pray...

Well, after Ctrl-Qing him, I booted him and re-recruited him again, and he seemed to be back to normal, so I thought he was OK. I believe his not having anything to say to me and his quest not starting are effects of the same cause: I'm playing with a faulty DIALOG.TLK file. I had uninstalled & reinstalled everything before beginning this game, but I stupidly forgot to delete the Override folder.
