I was siting here, Leistoning to the Brave New World CD. I realized just good Maiden really is. Amazing song writers. Great Muscians, Bruce Dicksons voice is amazing. Uses it really well.
But, Do they beat out Old (yes I said OLD) Metallica for the Kings of Metal? Metallica is good, older stuff anyway. With stuff like "For Whom The Bell Tolls" and "One" , and Kirk Hammets powerfull Guitar Solos, Lars Ulrich pounding drumming. I think Iron Maiden wins by a bit..There songs just are so amazing, you can so get an image of what Bruce is tlaking about, but at the same time have no damn clue what he is talking about. Sorry Grand-Ranger, but I can't relate I didn't like metal, sounded like a bunch of noise to me http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif Give me "ACID ROCK" Hendrix, Steppinwolf, Black Sabbath (not just Ozzie sorry LOA)Joe Walsh, Deep Purple, "Like peace man I could go on, but the old lady is calling me" http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/hippy.gif

I prefer 'OLD' Metallica http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif to Maiden.
In fact, I love 'Old' Metallica, Ride the Lightning was my favorite album. Maiden are OK, but don't quite do it for me in the same way. I find Dickinson's voice a bit whiney, although he does have a great range. (sorry Bruce!) ------------------ http://www.gldb.com/wayno/e1.jpg Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so. Depends on the mood. Metallica when I'm feeling melencholy, Iron Maiden when I just want to rock. I do like the bassist from Iron Maiden better though. (he rocks. I fully plan to model myself after him when I learn to play!)

I humbly take both, only metallica before they got all lawsuit happy.
Bruce dickinsons greatest hits out in stores today! who knows if we'll see the new metallica ever? Its been TBD in the new release book for like a year now and with newsted quitting and hetfield in rehab, I hope they get it together. Help Feed Lars!!!!!!!!!! (or atleast help with the lawyer bills) |
They both have good songs but I'll take Maiden over Metallica. And John D I'm first and foremost a Sabbath fan http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif before all others! Ozzy is good on his own, but his Sabbath days....well they ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Paranoid is my favorite, what an album! Master of Reality also kicks some major ass!
|
Oh, that's a though one. I would say Iron Maiden (only their old stuff... anything after the Seven Sons of the Seven Sons sucks) wins by a little tiny bit. But in defense of Metallica, they did rock too. Ride the lightning was excellent.
