I was actually wondering what classes do u people like best in SoA? Mine is the Monk and Paladin...

LennonCook 08-07-2002 04:17 AM

Anything but a plain fighter in vanilla SOA...
With The Darkest Day installed (it adds new classes ;) ), all of the vanilla kits (bar fighter, ofcourse); plus the Ninja, the Samurai (sp ??), and the new priest kits

Legolas The Magnificent 08-07-2002 05:14 AM

been a fighter, a palladin, a mage, a monk but i think the best is the archer. period

FluffigtDjur 08-07-2002 05:43 AM

It´s fun to try diferent stuff but at the end of the day, nothing beats a fighter with mastery in dual katanas. Sorcerers are kinda fun, but your still in the backround all the time. Besides, paladins are such basterds and monks ar to damn ugly.

Cannibal Monkey 08-07-2002 06:43 AM

Monk, sorceror and pure half orc fighter with 4 points in 2 handed sword, 3 points in 2 handed weapon, 19 str, 18 dex, 19 con and minimal everything else

In that order. The fighter was only fun for about 30 mins though.

Sorcerer Alex 08-07-2002 07:08 AM

A pure mage is quite fun, as is a stalker, assassin, archer and skald. Those are my favourite classes.

johnny 08-07-2002 08:43 AM

The first time i finished SoA, it was as a vampireslayer. That lived quite up to my expectations. :D

Dundee Slaytern 08-07-2002 09:25 AM

Read my sig.

Sythe 08-07-2002 12:11 PM

ARCANE RULES ALL KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!! I obviously played a Sorceror. I never tried other Fighter classes but I am still going to try them but i still beilieve Knowledge is power! One powerful mage can take down one party!

Illumina Drathiran'ar 08-07-2002 03:55 PM

It all depends on my mood, the type of party I want to have (if any) and my char's alignment... though I'm almost always some type of spellcaster.

Brainless One 08-07-2002 04:03 PM

I like theives, personally. You can steal important items from people without fighting, and if they fail, use boots of speed to run, hide in shadows, then bakstab with short sword of backstabbing!!!!(dont try this at home)

Malavon's Rage 08-07-2002 04:36 PM

Sorceror and the kaisin (love that kai ability!)<i cant remember how its spelled.

tell me if this would be a good idea, go through baldurs gate and TOTSC with a mage and then import to to SoA, just wondering cuz i was thinkin of doing it!

Brainless One 08-07-2002 04:43 PM

Thats a great idea!Thats why they made "import" an ability!(sorry if that sounded rude)and i think you get to keep items from those games too that you had.

Malavon's Rage 08-07-2002 05:02 PM

yeah i know, im just trying to make a point of how cool it would be to go through the game and not have to write so many spells:)

Andrew Mcveigh 08-07-2002 05:42 PM

i've been a paladin, a plain thief, and an assassin. i've gotten the farthest in SoA as an assassin, but it's actually my least favourite of the three. i don't really like any of the three i've been. what should i be next time?

Malavon's Rage 08-07-2002 05:47 PM

try a mage/thief?

If you don't use the "Drop items before the scream" cheese, I think the only item you get to keep are the Golden Pantaloons.

Zarr 08-07-2002 06:11 PM

Well I'd say of the classes I've played my favorite is a plain theif. As mentioned before stealing things is very very fun and the thief stronghold is cool too.

SixOfSpades 08-16-2002 03:37 PM

Me love Mages. Me love Thieves. Me play an Elven Thief/Mage.
Paladins and Berserkers are cool, too, and if you think hard enough, there are 2 ways to make a Barbarian almost literally invincible.

Sir Exxon 08-16-2002 04:54 PM

Cavaliers rule all... Sorcerers are fun too... But not even near the Cavalier, the ultimate and undefeatable Knight.

Can you share your ways with us?
I've seen one way over at the GameBanshee forums, it was suggested by Bruce Lee.
Saz, can i post a link?

whacky 08-18-2002 12:51 AM

My favourite classes are the sorceror, monk, barbarian and cavaliar.

Cutthroat Jimmy 08-18-2002 09:38 AM

Barbarian by far,Crom Faeyr, Equalizer and Boots o' Speed.....Ace

FelixJaeger 08-18-2002 10:15 AM

Felix

Tanik 08-19-2002 11:25 AM

Mines gotta be the assasin i dont like theiving but slinking in the shadows and killing your enemies before they know what happened is always fun. You can take out the Head Honcho and charge in with your figters and mages to wipe up the remaining resistance.

Paladin
All the perks of being a tank fighter plus some spell abilities at higher levs and lay hands on. i'm fine with being lawful good. and it's another reason to avoid having anomen. who needs 2 paladins.

The Hierophant 08-20-2002 06:22 AM

I thoroughly enjoy all of the paladin kits (particularly the Undead Hunter for his immunity to hold and level drain).
Mages too. In particular I find that a dual-classed fighter/mage (human fighter dualed to mage at around level 9 or so) yields the best results. That way you can devote more experience points to your mage class and ascend to the higher mage levels (something not enjoyed bu MULTI-classed fighter/mages) whilst still being able to wield powerful weapons should the need ever arise.
Right now I'm playing a human Priest of Lathander imported from BG1 dualed to a thief at level 10 and am having a ball. I recommend playing around with dual-classing, you can find some startlingly effective combinations, particularly in conjunction with different NPC party configurations.

Kaltia 08-20-2002 06:26 AM

I have played with almost all the kits and classes, solo'd a few. My favourites are the archer, sorcerer(ess) and the plain ranger

Only thing is: Anomen is NOT a Paladin. He is a Fighter dual Cleric, when he becomes a knight he is still a Fighter dual Cleric.

Jon Irenicus 08-20-2002 07:17 AM

Paladin's r the best class to me, why? U can ue the very best 2 handed sword in the game!!! (In my opinion)

Yes, carsomyr does tip the the game in the side of paladins a bit, doesn't it? It's alright though, i have the Weimar patch that makes mages flat out rule-28d6 abi-dalzim's horrid wilting, anyone? This affects enemy mages as well, so it isn't easy :(

Gram the sword of grief is also pretty good; Sarevok is using it now in my Ascension game. the lvl drain is good for mages, and he can kill trolls flat out with it. The psion blade makes Sarevok an illithid butt kicker, so i have to say, there are 3 best two handed swords in the game My favourite is a ranger using angwyval and hindo's doooooooooom (as Cespenar puts it)

dragon killer 38 08-20-2002 10:35 PM

My favorite class is a fighter dualed to a mage. I like a fighter that can cast spells, and a mage the can wield a sword. You can hack the enemy to pieces or blast it with fireball after fireball, and magic missle until it is incinerated. I just wish there was a fighter mage single class available in bh2. not dual or multi.

I also like the cleric/fighter combo, and the paladin, cause they can heal. Thieves have always been considered a week class to me.

Trau 08-21-2002 02:49 AM

I've only played Inquisitor so far, but next i hope to play a sorceror. Does the soceror have the same avatar as a mage?

Anyways...I'm addicted to the Inquisitor. Inquistor+Holy Avenger=dead wizard.
